Red Storm Women Remain Undefeated in Pac West Play

Four goals in the second half push DSC past Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA – Jessica Michie (Purcellville, VA/Louden Valley) scored two goals during the Red Storm's 4-2 comeback win over the Dominican Penguins on Saturday afternoon.

Down by two goals after the first period, Dixie State (3-3-0, 2-0-0 PACWEST) took advantage of nine shots to hand the Penguins (2-4-2. 0-1-0 PACWEST) their first loss within the Pac West.

Dominican's Eleanna Mendez assisted on the first goal by Mallory Englehardt and then scored off a corner kick in the 10th minute to push the hosts ahead 2-0.

Michie squared the match blasting shots by goalkeeper Alicia Paulsen in the 48th and 74th minutes. The Red Storm netted the game-winner in the 82nd minute off the foot of Wendy Stratford (Layton, UT/Layton) assisted by Mikala Wilkes (Cedar Hills. UT/Lone Peak HS '06). The insurance tally came from Wilkes four minutes later after being fouled in the goal box.

Abby Monroe faced just one shot in the second half after Tonya Smith (Eagle Mountain. UT/Lehi) started the day in net.

The Red Storm face Academy of Art (SF) Monday morning at 11am Pacific in another Pacific West Conference match. Dixie State will return home October 8 to face Chaminade University at 2pm.
