SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State Red Storm men's soccer team traveled to a neutral field at Westminster College on Saturday to face Northwest Nazarene University. In the non-conference tilt, the Red Storm defeated the Crusaders 2-1.
Dixie State improved to 2-1 on the season.
The Storm netted the only first-half goal in the 22nd minute when midfielder
Parker Kennah (Layton, UT/Northridge) scored past Nazarene goalie Mitchell Rice on a penalty kick. In the 60th minute, Dixie State increased the lead to 2-0 on a
Jordan Roylance (Smithfield, UT/Sky View) one-on-one goal past the keeper. Goalkeeper
Tyler McAninch (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) stopped three of the four Crusader shots on the day.
Northwest Nazarene scored a minute later as Alex Mangeac assisted on Alonzo Avila's goal.
Dixie State has won three straight matches against t Crusaders dating back to last season. The Red Storm defeated Nazarene 2-1 and 3-2 (OT) on October 27-28, 2008 at Hansen Stadium.
The Red Storm return home on Monday, September 14 to face Adams State College in their final non-conference match. Kick off is at 3pm at Hansen Stadium.
