When Ron Haun was hired as the head football coach of Dixie State College four years ago, he was known as the guy who coached Ricks College and their high powered passing offense. Over the past few years he has seen progress being made in regaining that same reputation.

Tonight in the Red Storm home opener against Adams State College, DSC quarterback Judd Thompson (Crystal Lake. IL, Prarie Ridge HS, Utah State) threw the ball 40 times and completed it 27. They compiled 374 yards, the most passing yards in a game since making the jump to Divison II. Dixie State was able to hold off the stubborn Grizzlies and win 37-28.

Thompson was able to make connections with Skyler Ence (St George. UT, Pine View) 11 catches, 88 yards and a touchdown. But the star of the night was Kyser Christensen (Boise. ID, Centennial) who had a 55 yard touchdown reception in the 2nd quarter that gave the Red Storm a 17-6 lead. Christensen also had a touchdown in the first quarter catching a 6 yard strike from Thompson that capped off a 15 play 80 yard drive.

The Dixie State defense also had things to celebrate tonight. Tying a school record with four interceptions. Cornerback Richard May (Rockland. ID, Rockland HS) had two pickoffs, with Nick Cragin (Issaquah, WA, Skyline, Western Washington) and Micah Harward (St George. UT, Dixie) each adding one.
