KANEOHE, HAWAII – After two wins to begin a critical four match trip on the islands, the Dixie State men's soccer team looked to extend the good play against the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University. On Thursday afternoon at Atherton Field in Kaneohe, HPU shutout the Storm 3-0 to snap a two-game DSC winning streak.
Max Anton scored the first HPU goal by following a rebound of Chance Bukoski's initial chance in the 38th minute. Hawaii Pacific (9-2-1, 6-2-1) took the 1-0 lead into the half.
Dixie State (5-7-1, 3-6) had a prime chance to knot the match in the 50th minute, but a
Kevin Young (Salt Lake City. UT/Kearns) shot hit the crossbar and stayed out of the goal.
Hawaii Pacific extended their lead with two goals late in the second half by Kimo Komomua and Alan Albertazzi.
For Dixie State, Young and
Jose Rodriguez (Cheyenne, WY/Rock Springs) each had four shots.
Tyler McAninch (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) saved four of seven HPU shots on goal.
The Red Storm completes their Hawaiian island excursion on Saturday at 1:30pm against Hawaii-Hilo.
