Storm Men Fall to Sea Warriors 1-0

Fifth loss in last six matches hinder Pac West chances

GK Tyler McAninch had three saves in 1-0 loss to HPU
ST. GEORGE, UTAH – Looking to bounce back from a last-second loss to Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday, the Dixie State men's soccer team hosted Hawaii Pacific University. After a scoreless first half, the visiting Sea Warriors netted the match's only goal early in the second half to defeat the Red Storm 1-0 at Hansen Stadium.

Dixie State (3-6-1, 4-2-1 Pac West) lost two out of three games during their six-day home stretch. The win over Chaminade last Thursday has been DSC's only triumph in the last seven matches. Hawaii Pacific (7-2-1, 4-2-1) leapfrogs Hilo into third place in the Pacific West Conference behind Notre Dame de Namur and nationally-ranked Grand Canyon.

HPU midfielder Chance Bukoski scored from in front of the net in the 62nd minute from a beautiful crossing pass from Kevin Fung.

The goal would be the only shot Dixie State goalie Tyler McAninch (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) missed all game. The freshman made three saves including two great efforts in the first half. Jose Rodriguez (Cheyenne, WY/Rock Springs) led the Red Storm with four shots while Kody Hunter (Hooper, UT/Fremont) and Kevin Young (Salt Lake City. UT/Kearns) each had two shots on goal.

Dixie State will play their next four matches on the Hawaiian Islands. The road trip starts Saturday, October 17 with a 1pm local time start against Chaminade. The Storm returns to Hansen Stadium on Friday, October 30 at 7pm to face undefeated Grand Canyon.
