Kyle Butts comes to Utah Tech from Towson University (MD) where he spent the 2023 season as the Quality Control Coach for Special Teams on the Tiger football team. In addition, he participated in a compliance internship within the Towson Athletic Department.
Prior to his coaching stint at Towson, Butts was a member of the Slippery Rock University (PA) football team where he played the 2021-2022 seasons as a graduate student. During his time at Slippery Rock, Butts was the punter and kickoff specialist on two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) - West Championship teams and Division II National Playoff participants. In 2022 Butts received All-PSAC honors at punter and graduated with his Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Following the 2022 season, Butts was announced as a Hampshire Honor Society member by the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame in recognition of his academic and athletic achievements during his collegiate career. In addition, he participated in an internship within the Slippery Rock Athletic Department.
In 2019, Butts was a member of the Big South Championship and FCS National Playoff team at Monmouth University (NJ). He was also a member of the 2018 team and graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Monmouth’s Leon Hess School of Business.
Prior to Monmouth, he spent one season at each James Madison University (VA) and Bloomsburg University (PA).
