Abigail Shaffer

Abigail Shaffer enters her third season serving as an assistant coach for the Utah Tech volleyball program in 2025 and it will be her second season as the recruiting coordinator.

The Trailblazers earned nine wins in her first season on the sideline in 2023 and helped UT to a 15-12 overall mark and a fourth-place finish in the WAC regular season standings with a 9-7 record.

After Adee Butler was named to the All-WAC Freshman Team in 2023, the pair of Kennedi Knudsen and Lusia Langi earned All-WAC honors in 2024.

Knudsen was named to the All-WAC First Team and Langi was tabbed to the WAC All-Freshman Team while Knudsen, Casidy Fried, Marley Roe and Mya Laufiso earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

Before coaching at Utah Tech, Shaffer was an assistant coach for Merritt Island High School, where the team finished with a 6A state championship in 2018. She also coached club volleyball as an assistant and head coach for four years. 

A libero/defensive specialist for then-Dixie State in the fall of 2021, Shaffer tallying 52 digs for the Trailblazers, averaging 3.7 digs per set.

Prior to her time in St. George, Shaffer finished seventh nationally in NJCAA in digs per set with a total of 507 digs, averaging 6.04 digs per set at Dakota County Technical College (MN) in 2019.

Moving on to Division II King University in Tennessee for her junior season in the spring of 2021, Shaffer finished ninth nationally with a total of 317 digs, averaging 4.95 digs per set. She helped lead King to their first Conference Carolinas volleyball title in school history in April 2021 and was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Shaffer earned a Marketing Degree from Utah Tech University in Spring 2023.
