Biography
At BYU 2023-24: Swam one season for the Cougar program … posted collegiate PRs in the 50 free (23.57) and 100 fly (58.58) at the Big 12 Championships … also clocked PRs in the 100 free (52.07 – Mizzou Inv’l) and 100 IM (1:03.09 – Intermountain Shootout) … earned Academic All-America honors.
At Timpview High School: Won four varsity letters in swimming and was a three-time Utah 5A state qualifier … was a two-time region champion in the 50 free and 100 free … also swam at Spanish Fork HS.
More on Lavenia: Born in Suva, Fiji … parents are Viliame and Amanda Vuniwai Turagavou … father Viliame played college football at San Jose State … older brother Jona played college football at Idaho … also recruited by BYU, San Jose State, UC Santa Barbara and CSU Bakersfield … swam for the Utah Valley Aquatics club team … currently majoring in public health with an emphasis in medical administration.
