At Dixie State 2017: Started in 14 of 16 matches played and finished t-third on the team with four assists … collected three of her four assists in consecutive games (Hawai’i Hilo 10/19, Point Loma 10/21, Holy Names 10/24) – all DSU victories … finished with six shot attempts, four on goal … helped anchor a Trailblazer defensive unit that posted seven shutout wins, surrendered just 19 goals in 18 matches (1.04 GAA), and limited opponents to 5.1 shots on goal per game … earned Academic All-PacWest honors.

2016: Started in all 18 matches in 2016 and co-led the team with four assists ... attempted 10 total shots, seven on frame ... saw time at both defender and midfield and was part of a defensive unit that limited opposing teams to 8.4 shots attempts and 4.4 shots on goal per match … earned Academic All-PacWest honors.

2015: Started in nine of 13 games and was tied for second on the team with four assists ... was credited with one shot attempt (on goal) … earned Academic All-PacWest honors.

At Springville High School: Earned four varsity letters in soccer and swimming for the Red Devils ... served as soccer team captain and earned team MVP honors as a junior and senior ... named to all-region first team and all-valley team ... broke 13 school records in swimming and was a four-time team MVP ... was a region champion and state runner-up in 50-m freestyle ... earned all-region academic honors and was a member of National Honors Society ... graduated in May 2015 with high honors.

Personal: Born in Provo, Utah ... parents are Brad and Shauna Mertz…father Brad play lacrosse at BYU…mother Shauna was a gymnast at BYU and member of the USA Junior Olympic team ... also recruited by BYU (swimming), Utah Valley and Southern Utah ... favorite team is Real Salt Lake … favorite athlete is Becky Sauerbrunn … currently majoring in nursing.

Why I chose Dixie State: “I chose Dixie State because coming to this school would allow me to pursue both my academic goals and my athletic goals. I really wanted to be able to study to become a nurse, but no other school would have allowed me to pursue that academic route than Dixie. I loved the coaches, the team, the location, and the people that I met here while I was making my decision. I fell in love with the red rocks and the fighting dixie spirit I felt on this campus.”
