Biography
At Utah Tech 2021-22 (COVID-Junior): Started in all 31 games at point guard and averaged 11.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game … scored in double figures in his 15 of his first 18 starts with three 20-plus point outings, highlighted by a career-high 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting at California Baptist (1/12) … was named WAC Player of the Week (12/13) after he poured in 22 points with six assists in a home win vs. Denver (12/11) … earned CSUN/Good Sam Empire Classic all-tournament team honors after he averaged 19.0 points in two games, including a 20-point, eight-rebound effort at CSUN (11/13) … scored a team-high 17 points at USC (11/22) … dished out a career-best nine assists in UT’s home win vs. Southern Utah (11/12) … co-led the team in scoring 19 times in 31 starts.
At Utah Tech 2020-21 (Junior): Earned honorable mention all-WAC recognition … started in all 21 games this season and led the team in scoring (13.1 ppg – 13th in the WAC) and assists (3.2 apg – 6th in the WAC) … scored in double figures in 13 games with four 20-plus point nights, and led the team in scoring nine times … tallied a career-high 23 points (5-of-9 3FG) in the Blazers’ D-I road debut at Denver (12/12) … poured in a team-high 20 points at then-No. 1 Gonzaga (12/29) … posted a pair of 22-point outings in WAC games vs. conference champ Grand Canyon (1/22), and at California Baptist (1/30), against which he dished out a career-high six assists to help lead DSU to a 79-75 road win … picked off at least one steal in 17 of his 21 games (1.7 spg – 3rd in the WAC), highlighted by a career-high five at CBU (1/29) to become just the 10th-different player in the program’s NCAA era to record at least five steals in a game.
At Kilgore College (2019-20): Started in 26 of 29 games played and averaged 14.9 points and 3.1 assists … scored in double figures in 25 outings for the Rangers, highlighted a career-high 35 point night in win over Paris CC (2/1/20).
At Chipola College (2018-19): Played in 31 games with one start in his lone season with the Indians and averaged 6.5 points on 46.7 percent shooting and 1.9 rebounds … scored a season-high 22 points vs. Red Devils Academy (12/11/18).
At Lone Star High School: Was a four-year varsity starter for the Rangers … averaged 20 points and 4.0 assists during his senior season en route to District MVP and all-region honors … also attended Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut (2017-18).
Personal: Born in Slidell, Louisiana … parents are Anthony and Tamerra Gooden … also recruited by Oral Roberts, Stony Brook, Troy, Texas State, Longwood and Prairie View A&M ... favorite team is the New Orleans Saints … favorite athlete is LeBron James … will graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sports Management in December.
