Jenny Thigpin

Jenny Thigpin was named the interim head coach for Dixie State women's basketball in November of 2014. She had the interim tag removed and became Dixie State's permanent head coach Jan. 22, 2015.

Thigpin joined the DSU women’s basketball staff in 2013 as an assistant after spending two seasons at Pacific West Conference member Fresno Pacific and after four years coaching at Buchanan High School in Clovis. She brings the Red Storm a wealth of experience both as a coach and a player.

As the head coach at Buchanan in 2009-10, she led the team to a 22-7 record (the most wins in school history), reaching the final four of the Central Section playoffs. In addition to three years of head coaching experience at Buchanan, Thigpin was the head coach and program director for the Hanford Heat AAU team for eight years.

A 2007 graduate of Fresno State, Thigpin played one season with the Bulldogs after spending three seasons playing at Arizona State. She appeared in every game for the Sun Devils in her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as all 30 games for Fresno State as a senior. In the 2003-04 season she scored 18 points in 15 minutes to lead ASU to an upset win over #7 Stanford.

Thigpin had a phenomenal career at Hanford High School, where she was the 2002 Visalia Times-Delta Player of the Year and a finalist for the McDonald's and Women's Basketball Coach Association All-American teams. She earned first-team all-state Division II honors and was a member of the all-state third team as a senior, averaging 20 points, 16.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game. As a junior she helped lead Hanford to a state title.
