Dean Winningham begins his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Trailblazer softball team in the 2019-20 season.
A native of St. George and alumni of Dixie High School, Winningham previously coached for Dixie State during the 2001-02 softball season and numerous years with the Pine View High School baseball program.
In 2012, Winningham retired after serving 34 years in the military and was hired by former DSU baseball coach Mike Littlewood to work on the baseball complex, which turned into a full time position as the Athletic Field Supervisor. While working as the Athletic Field Supervisor, he met Coach Simkins and joined the softball program in 2014.
Winningham takes great pride in the baseball and softball complexes, and enjoys working with the softball team coaching the infield and working with the coaching staff.
He resides in St. George with his wife Tracy and enjoys spending time with his three grandkids.
