Zac Hales enters his third season as an assistant coach of Utah Tech men’s soccer in 2025. 

In 2024, Hales helped UT make its second straight WAC Tournament appearance after finishing sixth in the conference with an overall record of 4-10-4 and a conference mark of 3-4-2. Damian Arguello and Samir Cuevas made the All-WAC Second Team and Tanner Dutra was selected to the WAC All-Freshman Team. The Trailblazers also excelled in the classroom, leading the WAC with 12 academic all-WAC selections.

Closing out Utah Tech's four-year transition to Division I, the Trailblazers went 9-9 overall in 2023 with a 4-4 mark in the WAC, racking up 12 points to finish third in the conference and earn a berth to the WAC Tournament. UT recorded its first WAC Tournament game win, downing San José State 1-0 in the first round. Austin Wallace was selected to the WAC All-Tournament Team and All-Freshman Team. Samir Cuevas also earned all-freshman honors while AJ Ciampini was named Second Team All-WAC.

Prior to Hales joining the staff in August of 2023, he had accumulated a decade of coaching experience at the high school and club levels. He currently serves as the Director of Player Development for Fire FC, a club team based in St. George, and also won five Region Championships across 12 seasons on the coaching staff at Snow Canyon High School.

Along with these experiences, Hales coached as part of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the state of Utah.

An All-Conference selection during his first season at then Dixie State in 2008, Hales finished his career with seven goals and four assists as a four-year starter, and won a Region Championship while playing at Dixie High School in St. George.
