Before Utah Tech: Earned two varsity letters in football at Damien HS, where he was named Baseline League Lineman of the Year and earned first team all-San Gabriel Valley and second team Baseline honors … served as team captain and was his team’s offensive rookie of the year and a two-time offensive lineman of the year … also lettered in basketball and wrestling … earned all-CIF honors as a wrestler. 

More on RJ: Born in Loma Linda, California … parents are Ron San Jose and Carrie Cobos … also recruited by Georgetown … favorite teams are the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers … favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant … favorite musician is Drake … favorite food is Korean barbeque … plans to major in exercise science.  

Why RJ chose Utah Tech: "I chose Utah Tech because the coaches gave a chance to showcase the skills, knowledge, and heart that I can bring to this level of football. Being able to be recognized and compete at the highest level was never a thought of mine playing football for the first time my freshman year of high school. But with Utah Tech giving me an opportunity to be a part of its culture, competitiveness, and brotherhood, I’m able to be a part of a program ready to compete.”
