At Utah Tech Fall 2021 (COVID RS-Junior): Started in eight of nine games last season before missing the rest of the year due to injury … finished fourth on the defense with 49 total tackles (31 solo) along with 3.0 TFLs and two PBUs … tallied a season high nine tackles with a TFL at Montana (10/9).
At Utah Tech Spring 2021 (RS-Junior): Started in all five games and put together a standout spring campaign, which got off to a bang in DSU’s FCS debut at Tarleton State (2/27), against which he collected two strip sacks, including a big one on the Texans’ first possession that helped set up DSU first D-I touchdown … racked up 10 (6 solo) of his 30 total tackles on the year in that Tarleton win, and the junior finished with 3.0 TFLs, to go with a team-highs of four PBUs and three forced fumbles in five games.
At Utah Tech 2019 (RS-Sophomore): Started in all 11 games and led the Trailblazer defensive unit in solo tackles (45) and total tackles (73) ... tallied 4.5 TFLs with 1.5 sacks, along with six pass break ups and one QB hurry ... recorded interceptions in consecutive road games at Fort Lewis (9/14) and New Mexico Highlands (9/21) ... registered a career-high 13 total tackles (3 solo) at Colorado School of Mines (11/9).
At Utah Tech 2018 (Redshirt Freshman): Saw time in all 11 games … recorded 13 tackles (1.0 TFL) and one sack … recovered one fumble.
At Dixie State 2017 (Freshman): Sat out the season as a redshirt.
At San Fernando High School: Earned Valley League MVP and first team All-City honors … honor roll student … graduated in June 2017.
Personal: Born in Los Angeles, California … parents are Louis Nash and Dani Newsome ... also recruited by Fresno State, San Jose State, Weber State, Cal Poly, Sacramento State and Western New Mexico ... favorite team is the Seattle Seahawks ... favorite athlete is Earl Thomas ... graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in May 2021, and is now double majoring in communication and recreation and sports management.
