Shawn Howe

Shawn Howe enters his second season as defensive coordinator at Dixie State after serving as defensive line coach in 2015. Prior to his arrival to DSU, he was the defensive line coach at Humboldt State from 2013-14. During his tenure at HSU, Howe coached one All-American and six all-GNAC performers during his tenure and his 2014 unit led the nation in sacks.

Before his time at Humboldt, Howe served as a graduate assistant at USC, where he worked with the defensive line in 2012.

He also served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee in 2010, and spent three seasons (2007-09) as a graduate assistant coach at Memphis, where he worked with the Tigers defense the first two years before moving over to tight end coach in 2009.

Howe began his coaching career at Rocky Mountain College, his alma mater, and served as the outside linebackers coach in 2004-05. Howe played defensive end and linebacker at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif., in 2000-01, where he earned All Mid-Empire Conference first team honors in 2000 when he was the team's Defensive Lineman of the Year. He then transferred to Rocky Mountain, where he was a two-year starter (2002-03) at defensive end.

He graduated from Rocky Mountain with 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health. He also worked on his Master's degree in communication management at USC. Howe prepped at Dallas High School in Dallas, Ore.
