Loni Fangupo enters his fourth season on the Utah Tech Football coaching staff as the Trailblazers’ defensive line coach.

Fangupo led the Blazer defensive line to a record-setting year during the 22020 FB - Loni Fangupo Family Photo019 season, as UT posted a school record 40 sacks, led by defensive end Dylan Hendrickson, who set a program single-season record with 10 sacks. The Trailblazer defense also set program records in scoring defense and yards per game (342.9).

Two Blazer defensive linemen earned All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors, including Hendrickson and Tyler Heaton.

Fangupo came to Utah Tech after two years (2016-18) as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator under current UT head coach Paul Peterson at Snow College. The Badgers posted an 18-4 record during Fangupo’s time as defensive line coach, including a victory in the 2017 El Toro Bowl. Additionally, Fangupo coached four All-WSFL honorees in his two seasons.

 Prior to his time at Snow College, Fangupo served as a student intern at BYU (2015-16) where he assisted with the defensive line.

Fangupo played at the highest level of professional and collegiate football. He spent three years in the National Football League, where he played for the Kansas City Chiefs (2014-15), Pittsburgh Steelers (2013-14), Seattle Seahawks (2012-13), and the Houston Texans (2012).

Prior to his time in the NFL, Fangupo played collegiately at BYU (2010-11), USC (2009-10), and Mount San Antonio Junior College (2007-09).

Fangupo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from BYU in 2016. He and his wife Rebekah are the parents of five children; Tevita Taulanga Fangupo, Gideon Gary Fangupo, Mele Lavinia Fangupo, Koloa Tufui Fangupo, and Sione Fuka O’Tupou Ahau Saulala Fangupo.
