Jose Flores begins his second season as offensive assistant coach at Dixie State after serving as tight ends coach and offensive line assistant for two seasons under Coach Murphy at Western New Mexico.
While coaching at WMNU, the Mustangs set school records for offense in a season, most points scored (377) and most yards gained (5,606) in WNMU history. In 2014, WNMU was the only team in the country to pass for over 3,600 yards and rush for over 1,980 yards. The offense was ranked ninth in the nation in total offense averaging over 500 yards a game (509.6), 10th nationally for yards per game passing (329.4), second in the RMAC in points per game (34.3), 18th nationally and second in the RMAC in time of possession per game (35:20), 17th nationally in first downs (288), and gave up the least amount of sacks in the RMAC (1.36) per game.
Prior to coaching, Flores played in 16 total games for WNMU in three season following a redshirt year in 2011. He played every game along the offensive line at center. In 2012, the offense accumulated 1,503 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns, while through the air, WNMU compiled 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns.
During his senior season in 2013, the ground attack chewed up 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns, while the passing game tallied 2,880 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Flores earned a Bachelor's degree in kinesiology at WMNU in 2014.
