Coach Campbell will begin his first year as the defensive line coach for the Red Storm after spending four seasons with Snow College.
The Badger defense finished at the top of the nation and Campbell's defensive line played a major factor in that ranking.
Prior to coming to Snow Campbell coached at Southern Utah University as the assistant defensive line coach. He played a key role in all of the breakdowns and analysis for the upcoming opponent. He taught in the school's physical education department.
Derek began his coaching career in 2005 as a strength and conditioning coach intern at the University of Washington. While at Washington, Campbell assisted in the training and development of all the Husky Football players. In addition, he served in the same capacity for men's and women's basketball.
As a player, Campbell played for the Badgers in 1998-2000 along the defensive line. A tireless worker, Campbell moved onto Southern Utah University following his time with the Badgers where he played for two more seasons during 2001-2002.
A native of Woodinville, Washington, Campbell graduated from Southern Utah following his playing days with a degree in Physical Education before attaining a Masters in Exercise Science from Central Washington.
