At Dixie State 2020: Became the first player in DSU's NCAA era to hit in 20-consecutive games (currently sitting at 21-straight games), which includes all 16 games played in 2020 and the last five games of 2019 ... batted .474 in the streak with seven doubles, seven HR, 30 RBI and 32 runs ... in 2020, led Dixie State regulars in virtually all statistical categories - batting (.458), hits (27), runs (27), 2B (co-lead with 6), HR (6), RBI (26), SLG% (.864) and OB% (.568) ... was named RMAC Player of the Week on March 10 ... before the 2020 season ended abruptly, he was fourth in program history in HR (22) and SLG% (.620), fifth in batting (.355), seventh in total bases (229), eighth in RBI (108), and 11th in runs scored (102) and triples (4).
At Dixie State 2019: Became the first player in Dixie State’s NCAA era to earn First Team All-America honors (NCBWA and D2CCA) and was a third team ABCA/Rawlings All-America selection ... is now one of three players in the program’s four-year era to earn All-America recognition ... also earned first team all-RMAC and NCBWA, D2CCA and ABCA/Rawlings all-South Central Region honors ... enjoyed a banner junior season as he finished in the top-10 in almost every RMAC offensive statistical category ... started in 52 of 53 games played this past and batted .385 (8th RMAC) with a team-highs of 14 home runs (7th RMAC) and 52 RBI (t-8th RMAC) ... finished with 72 total base hits (t-10th RMAC), including eight doubles and three triples to go with 56 runs scored (t-5th RMAC) ... finished sixth in the conference in on-base percentage (.485) and seventh in both walks (31) and slugging percentage (.684) ... hit safely in 42 of 53, including all four RMAC tournament games, during which he hit an even .500 (8-for-16) with one double, one homer and five RBI on his way to earning all-tournament honors ... also collected at least one hit in 27 of 32 RMAC games and hit .372 against conference opponents (45-for-121) with two triples, eight homers and 35 RBI, and was named RMAC Player of the Week on April 2 ... was a 2019 first team academic all-RMAC selection and earned CoSIDA-Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 honors.
At Dixie State 2018: Started in 26 of 32 games played and posted a .276 average with nine doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI … hit safely in 21 games with five multi-hit outings, highlighted by a career-best three-hit game with a double at Colorado Mesa (2/16) … drove in a career-high tying three runs on homers in games against CS San Bernardino (2/9) and at Holy Names (3/15) … drove in at least one run in 15 of 32 appearances … earned Academic All-PacWest honors.
At Dixie State 2017: Played in 12 games with six starts and batted .200 with one double, eight RBI and one run scored … legged out a double for his first collegiate hit as part of a 2-for-5 day with three RBI in a home win over Holy Names (3/5) … also posted a two-RBI effort in a win at California Baptist (3/17) … earned Academic All-PacWest honors.
At Ironwood Ridge High School: Earned four varsity letters in baseball for the Nighthawks … was a first team All-Northwest, Section XI and Southern Arizona pick as a senior after batting .411 with eight doubles, four triples, eight homers and 29 RBI … posted an .831 slugging percentage and finished with 23 runs scored … also earned second team AZBCA Division 2 All-State honors and was selected to play in the 2016 Division 2 Southern Arizona Senior All-Star Game … hit .402 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 35 RBI as a junior and helped guide IRHS to a 21-8 record and a state tournament appearance … was a second team All-Southern Arizona, Division II First Team All-Sectional, and a 2015 Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American selection.
Personal: Born in Tucson, Arizona … parents are Todd and Kim Engel … favorite team is the Arizona Diamondbacks … favorite player is J.D. Martinez … also recruited by Utah, San Francisco, Grand Canyon, Western Arizona CC, Yavapai CC, Cochise CC, Central Arizona CC and Pima CC ... currently majoring in business administration.
