Utah Tech University Athletics

Opened in April 2024, the state-of-the-art home of Trailblazer men's and women's golf is the Utah Tech Golf Practice Facility at Black Desert. Among the exclusive amenities offered to Trailblazer golf athletes are a driving range, a 1.5-acre putting green and a halfway house on the course for lunch and breakfast. Looking forward, plans are underway to add other facilities to support the Trailblazer Golf programs, including offices, locker rooms, a gym and a cafeteria.

Black Desert’s golf course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, is the home course for the university’s golf programs. Black Desert also hosts PGA and LPGA events, including the Bank of Utah Championship, a FedExCup event hosted in October. Black Desert offers the resources necessary to strengthen player development and bolster the Trailblazers’ competitive edge.

The golf facility is just one facet of the relationship between Black Desert and Utah Tech University. Black Desert is also a key partner in the university’s Hotel and Resort Management academic program. Together, the two are redefining excellence in the region’s hospitality sector by offering UT students hands-on learning opportunities at the resort that prepare them to graduate, not only ready to meet the region’s workforce demands, but also to elevate Black Desert’s guest experience. Black Desert also supports UT student-athletes through the Black Desert Strive to Be award, honoring athletes who excel in their sport and in their communities.
