(Flagstaff, Ariz. - Sept. 26, 2026) - The Trailblazers pushed their winning streak to six on Saturday afternoon winning a five-set battle at Northern Arizona at Rolle Activity Center.
Utah Tech (9-3, 2-0 Big Sky) overcame a loss in set one, 22-25 to win set two & three, 25-20, 25-17 before dropping set four, 14-25, but prevailed in set five, 15-10 to secure the victory.
Led by 15 kills & 16 digs from senior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor, junior
Sydney Reese matched her season high with 13 kills adding four digs and three blocks.
Tehanie Waters &
Marley Roe led the way with 18 and 19 assists, respectively, while Treanor and
Cale Torgerson tied for the team lead with three service aces apiece.
Annalyse Shimada led the way defensively with four blocks and
Mya Laufiso led the team with a season-high 24 digs.
How It Happened
After dropping the opening set, their first set loss since Sept. 6 vs. LMU, the Lumberjacks looked like they may take a 2-0 set lead jumping out to a 13-8 lead in the second set and continued to lead by four (16-12) after a kill.
Four straight points by Utah Tech locked up the set at 16, and after three straight points by Northern Arizona, the Trailblazers closed out the set on a 9-1 run to storm back for the 25-20 set win scoring the final four points of the set.
The Trailblazers jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the third set and after the Lumberjacks closed the gap to within four (20-16), UT scored five of the final six points in the set as the final two points of the set for UT came on blocks by
Cass Klapp & Reese.
A 4-0 run for the Trailblazers midway through the fourth set saw UT close NAU's lead to 14-12, but that was as close as they could get in the set as NAU finished out the set on an 11-2 run.
The fifth saw UT get out to a 7-4 lead and push their lead to 11-6 after a NAU attack error.
A kill by Treanor put the Trailblazers up 13-9 and after one final kill by NAU, back-to-back kills by
Shaylee Dahle & Shimada sealed the victory.
Numbers to Know
- Utah Tech evened the all-time series against Northern Arizona at 2-2 joining a win at Northern Arizona in 2022.
- It was Treanor's fourth double-double of the season and first since Sept. 12 at UC Irvine.
- Reese also tallied 13 kills in a five-set win over UC San Diego at the OUTRIGGER Invitational on Sept. 4.
- Laufiso's previous season high in digs was 18 in the season opener against Utah Valley and was only four shy of matching her career high of 28 set at Air Force in 2025.
- It was the first time since Sept. 6, 2025 against Sacramento State the Trailblazers have been outhit and won as they hit .100 compared to .127 for NAU.
- Utah Tech led NAU in kills (53-48), service aces (8-4) & digs (90-83) while the Lumberjacks led in blocks (15-8).

The Trailblazers return back home for a Tuesday night contest against Southern Utah (1-11, 0-2) at 6 p.m. in Burns Arena. It will be Teddy Bear Toss Night as the Trailblazers will be raising money for Elks Lodge #1743.
