(St. George, Utah - Sept. 19, 2026) - The Trailblazers closed out the Utah Tech Tournament on Saturday morning sweeping Chicago State in Burns Arena.

Wrapping up non-conference play with their fourth straight sweep, Utah Tech (7-3) took sets over Chicago State (0-12), 25-11, 25-13, 25-13.

Hitting .435 as a team, the fourth-highest hitting percentage in a match in program history, the Trailblazers were led by a pair of 10-kill performances from Nana Asiata and Shaylee Dahle for a second straight match.

Senior Marley Roe led the Trailblazers with 21 assists while senior Tessa Treanor added a team-high four service aces.

Defensively, Dahle led the team with a pair of blocks and Mya Laufiso led the Trailblazers with 13 digs.

How It Happened
The Trailblazers got out to a quick start in the opening set leading 7-1 after a kill by Cale Torgerson.

A kill by Sydney Reese extended Utah Tech's lead to 14-5 and a kill by Treanor made it 17-7.

After a service error, the Trailblazers closed out the set on an 8-3 run getting six kills and a pair of attack errors for the commanding set win.

The second set saw UT jump out to an 8-4 lead, but five straight points for the Cougars gave them a slim 9-8 advantage.

After a tie at 10, a pair of CSU attack errors and a kill by Treanor gave the Trailblazers a 13-10 lead and they pushed it to 17-13 before UT closed out the set with eight straight points for the 12-point set win.

The third set saw the Cougars score the first three points, but the Trailblazers responded tying the set at six.

A Trailblazer service error made it 8-7 in favor of UT, but a 9-0 run for the Trailblazers grew their lead to 17-7.

Kills by Dahle and Asiata pushed UT's lead back to double digits (19-9) as they went on to take the set by 12 winning 25-13.

Numbers to Know

• The Trailblazers improve to 3-2 all-time against Chicago State.
• Utah Tech has won 11 straight home matches and 15 of their last 16 at home dating back to Oct. 12, 2024.
• The Trailblazers led the Cougars in kills (47-14), service aces (6-1) & digs (36-21).
• It was the first time UT has held a team to a negative hitting percentage since Southern Utah (-.048) on Sept. 25, 2025 as the Cougars hit -.053.
• The Trailblazers' seven non-conference wins are their second-most in the Division I era only trailing nine in 2025.
• It is the first time in the NCAA era the Trailblazers have swept four straight matches.
