(Bakersfield, CA - Aug 20, 2026) – Utah Tech men's soccer comes up short in their 2026 season opening match against Cal State Bakersfield, 1-0, on Thursday night.
The Trailblazers (0-1-0) opened their 2026 regular season with a familiar face in Cal State Bakersfield (1-0-0) on Thursday night. Today's match was the fifth consecutive meeting between the two programs, with the all-time series even at two wins a side entering tonight.
The Roadrunners applied early pressure on the Trailblazers, recording the first five shots of the game. Mountain West Preseason Watchlist nominee,
Luca Campoli, stopped all three shots on target, accounting for three of his five saves on the night.
Utah Tech's first scoring chance came in the 19th minute when
Ace Downey got a shot off but misfired. The Trailblazers recorded three shots in the first half, but none were on target.
Bakersfield was able to break the scoreless tie in the 57th minute when Osha Foster found the back of the net. Jackson Chambers set up Foster to record the assist for the 'Runners.
UT had a good chance to respond to the Cal State Bakersfield goal in the 64th minute when
Seth Powder tried the Roadrunner netminder in the center, but was denied.
The Trailblazers' final shot on goal came in the 70th minute when Powder tried to get one past the CSUB keeper in the middle of the net again, but was unsuccessful as Zenden Hart made the save.
The Roadrunners would hang on for the 1-0 opening night victory.
