TRAILBLAZERS BACK HOME TO HOST UT ARLINGTON
The Trailblazers return home after their seven-game road swing to host UT Arlington on Friday and Saturday at Karl Brooks Field.
TOUGH BATTLE IN PROVO GOES TO BYU ON TUESDAY
The Trailblazers battled BYU tough on Tuesday afternoon falling 9-6 to the Cougars after tying the contest at four with three runs in the top of the fourth.
BYU responded with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth and after the Trailblazers scored one run apiece in the fifth and sixth, the Cougars tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh to snap Utah Tech's three-game winning streak.
UTAH TECH GOES 3-3 ON CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP
The Trailblazers are coming off a 3-3 road trip in Southern California from April 3-7.
Utah Tech won the final three games of the series sweeping a doubleheader at CSU Bakersfield on April 7 and defeated San Diego, 11-9 in a high-scoring thriller on April 6.
The road trip started at WAC foe California Baptist on April 3-4 falling in a doubleheader before dropping the series finale, 3-2 after a walk-off by the Lancers.
ABOUT THE UT ARLINGTON MAVERICKS
UT Arlington is 18-21 overall on the season coming off winning one of three contests at home last weekend over California Bapitst and are 6-6 overall in WAC play sitting in a tie for third along with Utah Valley.
The Mavericks, who are 4-8 on the road this season, have won WAC series at Abilene Christian and at home against Tarleton State and went 1-2 in series against CBU & UVU.
UTA went 24-25 in 2025 and 10-14 in WAC action to finish seventh in the conference.
As a team, the Mavericks are hitting .287 as a team while averaging 6.4 runs per game.
UTA leads the WAC in home runs with 48 while ranking second in slugging percentage (.491) & stolen bases (53).
Freshman infielder Valeria Feeney leads the Mavs in batting average (.347), at-bats (121), hits (42) & triples (4) while Mia McNulty and Peyton Holland both rank in the top five in the WAC in home runs with 11 & 10, respectively.
In the circle, UTA has a staff ERA of 6.52 and are allowing 7.4 runs per game and opponents are hitting .348.
Sophomore pitcher Madi McDonnell tops the team in wins (9), ERA (5.44) & innings pitched (92.2) and Maddie Furniss has added six wins and a team-leading 38 strikeouts.

The Trailblazers are 3-6 halfway through WAC play sitting in a tie for fifth along with Abilene Christian with three WAC series remaining.
Looking to secure a top six spot in the WAC regular season standings for a spot in the WAC Tournament on May 6-9, the Trailblazers will finish out the season at Tarleton State and back at home against Abilene Christian.

Pappas has entered or nearing the top 10 in four different single season categories ranking third in slugging percentage (.857), fourth in batting average (.452), tied for sixth in doubles (17) and is four bases shy of the top 10 in total bases (108).
Senior Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kekona is nearing the top 10 in career hits (183, 12 away), at-bats (543, 15 away), doubles (35, 4 away), runs scored (122, 7 away) & walks drawn (60, 7 away).
Kahahawai-Kekona is seventh all-time in stolen bases (44) and Sadie Phillips is tied for eighth (43).
