(St. George, Utah - March 7, 2026) - The Trailblazers battled back to force double overtime against visiting Utah Valley on Saturday night falling 104-101 in the second extra session on Senior Night at Burns Arena.
Utah Tech (18-14, 11-7 WAC) wrapped up the regular season with the hard-fought comeback with four Trailblazers finishing in double figures led by 28 points by
Ethan Potter who went 14-of-17 from the free throw line.
Potter tallied his seventh double-double of the season grabbing 10 rebounds along with dishing out a team-high five assists.
Chance Trujillo registered 18 points and
Jusaun Holt posted his second double-double of the season finishing with 16 points and a season-high 10 rebounds.
Noah Bolanga added 14 points off the bench while
Tanner Davis chipped in nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Trailblazers shot 45.6 percent (31-68) from the field, 30 percent (9-30) from three-point range and 75 percent (30-40) from the free throw line.
Utah Valley (24-7, 14-4 WAC), who earned the WAC regular season outright with the victory, were led by a trio of Wolverines with 20-plus points.
The Wolverines were led by 27 points by Sherman Weatherspoon IV followed by 23 points from Jackson Holcombe and 21 points by Trevan Leonhardt.
How It Happened
An even first half of the opening half saw the Trailblazers take a slim 20-19 lead after a three-point play by Davis.
A three-point play by Potter pushed Utah Tech in front, 25-20, but five straight points for Utah Valley tied the game at 25.
A triple from the right corner by Bolanga gave the Trailblazers a 28-25 lead.
UT continued to lead by one (36-35) after a layup by Trujillo with 1:04 left, but the final five points of the half went to the Wolverines to give UVU a 40-36 lead at the break.
With the Wolverines building a double digit lead seven minutes into the second half, Utah Valley continued to lead 79-73 with 34 seconds left in the second half.
A pair of free throws by Holt followed by a turnover by the Wolverines and an acrobatic three-pointer by Trujillo cut UVU's lead to one, 79-78 with 16 seconds left.
A pair of free throws by the Wolverines' Weatherspoon IV pushed UVU up 81-78, but a three-point play by Potter with eight seconds left knotted the game at 81 and sent the game to overtime.
With each team scoring 11 points in the first overtime, the contest shifted to a second overtime tied at 92.
The Wolverines struck first with the first seven points of the second extra session taking a 99-92 lead with 2:50 to play.
The Trailblazers refused to go down quietly cutting UVU's lead to 102-101 with five seconds left after a triple by Holt, but two final free throws by the Wolverines put the visitors up 104-101 as one final three-point attempt by Holt in the final seconds came up short.

- The Trailblazers led the Wolverines in steals (5-4), points off turnovers (25-24), bench points (28-27) & fast break points (14-13).
- Utah Valley takes the season series over the Trailblazers, 2-1 and moves their overall mark against Utah Tech to 10-4.
- Potter came one point shy of matching his career high of 29 points set against Southern Utah on Jan. 24.
- The 30 free throws made and 40 free throw attempts were both season high for the Trailblazers.
- Potter's 14 free throws made tied for second-most in a game in program history and his 17 attempts are tied for sixth-most.
- Utah Tech finishes 11-3 at home on the season for its most home wins in the Division I era and most wins at home since 2019-20 (12).
