SCOUTINGÂ THE UTAH VALLEYÂ WOLVERINES
Utah Valley is 23-7 on the season and leads the WAC with a 13-4 record heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Wolverines, who have won five straight since falling at Utah Tech on Feb. 12, defeated Southern Utah, 92-88Â on Thursday night before coming to St. George.
Finishing the season with a perfect 15-0 record at home this season, the Wolverines are only 5-7 on the road.
Utah Valley leads the WAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.31), assists per game (18.8 - 6th nationally), blocks per game (5.8 - 7th nationally), field goal percentage (50.4 - 10th nationally), field goal percentage defense (40.6), scoring margin (13.1), scoring offense (80.1), scoring defense (67.0).
The Wolverines are third in the WAC in steals per game (9.8 - 6th nationally), rebounds per game (37.0), three point percentage (33.5), three pointers per game (6.6) & turnovers forced per game (15.55).
Redshirt sophomore guard Jackson Holcombe leads the WAC in steals per game (2.38 - 10th nationally), ranks second in rebounds per game (7.2) & field goal percentage (54.1), third in blocks per game (1.41) & fourth in points per game (15.4).
Preseason All-WAC selection Trevan Leonhardt leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (2.15) & assists per game (5.9 - 25th nationally), sits second in steals (62 - 22nd nationally) & minutes per game (33:28).
Redshirt junior Tyler Hendricks, a transfer from UCF, ranks second in the WAC in three-pointers made (60), three-pointers per game (2.14) and is tied with Leonhardt averaging 11.8 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UTAH VALLEY
This will be the Trailblazers and Wolverines 14th meeting with UVU leading the all-time series, 9-4.
The Trailblazers snapped Utah Valley's five-game winning streak against Utah Tech with a 81-77 win over the Wolverines on Feb. 12 with five players scoring in double figures led by 14 points from
Chance Trujillo.
Building an impressive 42-25 lead at halftime, the Trailblazers continued to lead in the second half with Utah Valley closing UT's lead to a pair (79-77) with 17 seconds remaining, but a pair of free throws by
Jusaun Holt in the final seconds sealed the four-point win.
The Wolverines defeated the Trailblazers, 92-76 in Orem on Jan. 10 and UT was led by 15 points by Holt with four other Trailblazers tallying double digits.
Utah Tech is 3-2 at home against the Wolverines with a 80-75 overtime win on Feb. 19, 2022 along with a 65-53 win on Dec. 2, 2023.
LAST TIME OUT AT SOUTHERN UTAH
Despite a career-high 28 points from
Jusaun Holt, the Trailblazers fell 81-67 at Southern Utah on Saturday night at America First Event Center.
Utah Tech, who suffered only their second loss in their last nine contests, only trailed 42-38 at halftime, but a low-scoring second half saw Southern Utah (10-19, 6-10 WAC) pull away.
Led by Holt's 28 points, the redshirt senior guard went 10-of-18 from the field, nailed three three-pointers, sank all five free throw attempts and grabbed three rebounds in 38 minutes of action. Â Â
Chance Trujillo had his second straight high-scoring performance of the week adding 19 points going 5-for-8 from three-point range, two rebounds and an assist.
Getting out to a 10-7 lead after the first three minutes of action, the Trailblazers pushed their lead to 16-10 after back-to-back three-pointers by Holt and Trujillo.
Five straight points by the Thunderbirds got Southern Utah within one before a quick 6-0 run for the Trailblazers finished off by a Trujillo layup put UT ahead 22-15 midway through the first half.
Continuing to lead 30-25 after a layup by
Ethan Potter, SUU jumped ahead 31-30 after a 6-0 run of their own and pushed their lead to as many as seven (42-35) before a late triple by
Noah Bolanga cut the Thunderbirds lead to four at halftime.
SUU got the second half started with six straight points to push the Thunderbirds ahead, 50-38 before a pair of free throws by
Britton Berrett were UT's first two points of the half.
A three-pointer by Holt cut SUU's lead down to five (59-54), but a 15-5 run over the six-and-half minutes gave the Thunderbirds a 15-point lead to go on for the victory.

Utah Tech heads into the week leading the WAC in three point attempts per game (22.9), three pointers made per game (7.8) & turnovers per game (12.2).
The Trailblazers are second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.17), assists per game (14.3), field goal percentage (47.1), three point percentage defense (29.0 -6th nationally) & three point percentage (34.7).
Individually, Potter leads the WAC in rebounds per game (7.9), rebounds (245) & field goal percentage (59.1 - 26th nationally). He is also among the league leaders in points (494, 2nd), field goals made (198, 2nd), points per game (15.9, 3rd) & blocks (27, 6th).
Trujillo leads the WAC in three point attempts (188), is third in three-pointers made (65) and is fourth in minutes per game (32:42).
Bolanga is second in the WAC in three point attempts (169) & three-pointers made (57), is fifth in minutes per game (32:23) and eighth in rebounds per game (6.0).
Holt checks in seventh in assists per game (3.3) & eighth in blocks (26) and
Tanner Davis is seventh with 50 steals.

The 61.1 percent (33-54) shooting from the field last Thursday night against ACU was a season high and nearly in the single season top 10 for a game in program history as the 10th-best mark is 61.7 percent vs. Chaminade in 2012-13.
POTTER SETS SINGLE SEASON MARKS FOR POINTS & FIELD GOALS MADE
Ethan Potter has set the single season program record for points scored (494) and field goals made (198) and his 245 rebounds are 32 boards shy of the top single season mark in rebounds.
TRUJILLO GETTING HOT
Trujillo hit a season-best six three-pointers last Thursday against ACU as it was the 12th time in the NCAA era a Trailblazer has connected on six or more three-pointers in a game.
Trujillo has been on a tear from the field over his last nine games shooting 53.1 percent from the field over the last six games nailing 40-of-75 (.533) from the field and is 26-of-46 (.565) from three-point range.

Potter, Trujillo, Holt & Davis are all on track to finish in the top 10 in a single season in different categories.
