(St. George, UT - Mar. 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis defeats Montana on Friday afternoon, 5-2, to win their fourth consecutive match.

The Trailblazers (9-10, 0-0 WAC) were in a close battle in the doubles matches with the Grizzlies (2-11, 0-4 Big Sky) as they split victories on Doubles No. 1 and 3. It came down to a tiebreaking game at Doubles No. 2 to decide the overall doubles point but Montana prevailed in the tiebreaking game 7-4 to take the doubles point. 

Montana was able to defeat Utah Tech at Singles No. 1, but it was all Trailblazers the rest of the way as UT was able to take the remaining five singles matches. 

The Trailblazers were led by strong play at Singles No. 3 and 4 by Maya Inouye and Nutsa Tsintsadze who won their matches comfortably. Both ladies secured their ninth singles victories of the 2026 season and each improved their singles match win streak to three. 

Cameron Hendrix continued her strong freshman campaign as she recorded a 2-0 set win at Singles No. 5. Hendrix picked up her team leading 11th singles victory, and is now 3 wins shy of tying the school record for single-season singles match victories. Cameron also improved her singles win streak to four.

Although the match was decided, Ana Gutierrez Sampere secured a hard fought win at Singles No. 2. Sampere lost the first set, then battled back to win a tiebreaking game to stay alive and force a third set, which she ultimately won. 

Coach Pelton had high praise for his team after winning their fourth in a row: "So proud and impressed by these girls and all that they are accomplishing! They have put in the work and it is paying off as they continue to exceed expectations."
