Trailblazers Fall to Lancers, 86-72 in WAC Semifinals

(Las Vegas - March 13, 2026) - The Trailblazers saw their run in WAC Vegas come to an end on Friday night falling 86-72 to No. 2 seed California Baptist at Orleans Arena.

Utah Tech (19-15), who advanced to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament for the first time in program history, was led by 25 points from Ethan Potter who battled foul trouble to go 11-of-15 from the field.

Jusaun Holt added 16 points and dished out a team-leading five assists while Chance Trujillo came off the bench to score 15 points and added three rebounds & three assists.

The Trailblazers connected on 48.2 percent (27-56) from the field, 35 percent (7-20) from three-point range and 73.3 percent (11-15) from the charity stripe.

California Baptist (24-8) was led by the WAC Player of the Year Dominique Daniels Jr. with 41 points and also got 19 points, including five three-pointers, by Jayden Jackson.

How It Happened
Leading 14-10 after a fast-paced first five minutes, a quick 6-4 run for the Trailblazers pushed their lead to 20-14 midway through the opening half after a driving layup by Trujillo.

Continuing to lead by six (26-20) after a layup by Holt, an 11-2 run for the Lancers pushed CBU in front 31-28 with 2:48 to play.

A jumper by Bolanga brought the Trailblazers within one, and after four straight free throws, two by Potter & a pair by Holt, gave UT a one-point lead, two final free throws by Holt with 10 seconds left in the half gave the Trailblazers a 36-35 lead at the break.

CBU got the second half started with a 10-2 run to jump ahead 45-38, but a three-pointer by Tanner Davis kept the Trailblazers within four. An 18-6 run for the Lancers extended their lead to 16 (63-47), but the Trailblazers answered right back with eight straight points, including back-to-back triples by Trujillo and Holt, to pull cut the deficit in half. With the Lancers building their lead back to double digits, going ahead by 14 (71-57), one late rally by the Trailblazers saw UT cut CBU's lead to 71-65 with an 8-0 run with 5:52 to play. That was as close as the Trailblazers could get as the Lancers responded with back-to-back field goals to build back a 10-point lead stretching it to as many as 17 in the final minutes.
