Utah Tech junior RHP/3B Ryan Kroepel was named the national John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week on Tuesday for his efforts in the Trailblazers' home series split with Austin Peay this past weekend.

The junior from Poway, Calif., batted .267 (4-for-15) in four starts with three RBI, four runs scored, six walks and one stolen base. Two of his three RBI in the series came via a clutch two-run home run that helped propel the Trailblazers to a 15-11 victory in the series opener last Thursday night.

Kroepel also appeared in two games in relief and recorded a win and a save in both of Utah Tech's victories in the series split.

He came on with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh inning of Thursday's opener with Utah Tech clinging to a 13-9 lead. The junior was able to get the final two outs of the frame with the lead intact,

Following his two-run homer, he worked a spotless eighth and worked around a one-out walk in the ninth to earn his NCAA Division I-leading sixth save of the season.

Then in Saturday's series finale, Kroepel was called upon to work the 10th inning and battled his way through the scoreless frame. He earned his first decision of the year when the Trailblazers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the stanza.

Utah Tech (13-3) returns to action on Tuesday with a midweek road date at in-state rival BYU. First pitch at Miller Park in Provo is set for 3:05 p.m. (MT).
