Trailblazers Rout Southern Utah on Senior Day Saturday, 83-66

Paige Cofer led a season-high five Trailblazers in double figures with 19 points as Utah Tech routed in-state rival Southern Utah, 83-66, on an emotional Senior Day Saturday inside the Burns Arena.

How it happened
On a day when all five Trailblazer seniors were penciled into the starting line-up, including ceremonial starts for injured star guards Macie Warren and Maddie Warren in their final Burns Arena appearance, Utah Tech (9-18/4-13 WAC) trailed only twice early in the first quarter.

The Blazers led 17-12 after opening 10 minutes, and after SUU pulled to within a bucket at 26-24 with 6:10 to play until halftime, Utah Tech used a 15-2 over a near four-minute span to extend to a 41-26 advantage.

Five Trailblazers scored in a balanced attack, which helped propel Utah Tech into the intermission with a 44-32 cushion.

The Thunderbirds (19-9/11-5 WAC) managed to pare the Blazer lead down to single digits on a couple of occasions and found themselves down eight at 55-47 Brooklyn Fely jumper with 2:28 left in the third quarter.

However Utah Tech closed the period with 10-straight points, with Calyn Dallas providing the exclamation mark with a straight away 3-pointer at the quarter horn that extended the Blazer lead to 18 at 65-47.

Chardonnay Hartley quickly pushed that lead to 20 with a runner in the lane just 15 seconds into the fourth quarter.

SUU made one final charge, using a 10-2 spurt to pull to within 12 at 69-57 with 7:23 to play.

The Trailblazers clapped right back with six-straight points of their own with a pair of Brie Crittendon buckets that bookended a nifty left-handed Cofer transition lay-in off a brilliant feed from Hartley.

Utah Tech put it in cruise control from there as the Trailblazers closed their 2025-26 home slate with a three-game home winning streak.

Numbers to know
Cofer's 19 points were a season-high as the sophomore went 6-of-10 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Cofer also recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 rebounds.

Senior Kaylee Borden added 18 points in her final home start and managed to extend her streak of at least one made 3-pointer to a career best 14-straight games. Borden also dished out for assists and grabbed three rebounds.

Crittendon finished 16 points, 12 of which came in the second half. The senior knocked down six of her nine shots to go with four assists and three boards.

Hartley also enjoyed her final home start as the senior point guard poured in 11 points with three rebounds, three assists, one steal, and her fifth-career blocked shot.

In addition, Crocker posted her second-straight double-double with 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, 15 of which came on the defensive end.

Utah Tech shot a season-high 45.7 percent (32-of-70) from the floor, which included a 6-of-19 (.316) clip from the perimeter. The Trailblazers also went 13-of-17 (.765) at the foul line and outrebounded the T-Birds by a 46-41 count.

Meanwhile, the Trailblazers took care of the basketball as they committed a season-low six turnovers, while the defense forced 11 SUU miscues.

Sierra Chambers led three T-Birds in double figures with 16 points. SUU hit on 24-of-65 (.369) of its field goal attempts and was 6-of-23 (.261) from beyond the arc.
