TRAILBLAZERS OPEN HOME SLATE HOSTING LYMAN CLASSIC
The Trailblazers open the home slate this weekend hosting the Lyman Classic at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech will take on Big West foes UC Davis & CSU Bakersfield in a pair of games apiece along with future Big Sky opponent Weber State on Sunday afternoon.
TRAILBLAZERS EARN PAIR OF WINS IN SAN DIEGO
The Trailblazers earned their first two wins of the season last weekend at the USD/UCSD Tournament winning their final two contests of tournament play defeating Colorado State, 6-4 and Weber State, 8-2.
Tournament action started earlier in the week dropping a doubleheader against UC San Diego, 9-0 in five innings & a tough 9-8 setback, and fell 9-2 to Omaha on Friday morning.
ABOUT UC DAVIS AGGIES
UC Davis is 6-4 going 3-2 in each of its first two tournaments at the home-hosted NorCal Kickoff and at last weekend's UNLV Tournament.
The Aggies, who went 15-36 overall last season and 9-18 in the Big West to finish eighth in the conference, earned a 5-1 win over Seattle U and a pair of victories against UNLV in Las Vegas.
Picked to finish sixth in the Big West, junior pitcher Ashley Sawai was named to the Big West preseason team and is 2-1 on the season making four starts and has tossed 19 strikeouts in 20.1 innings.
Senior pitcher Caroline Grimes is 4-2 with a 3.13 ERA and also leads the team in innings pitched (31.1), strikeouts (22) and holding opponents to a .209 batting average.
Five Aggies have started all 10 games led by sophomore infielder Rylee Reeves who is hitting .423 from the plate and is tied with sophomore Alyssa Dethlefson with 11 hits as Dethlefson has swiped seven stolen bases to rank 18th nationally.
ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD ROADRUNNERS
CSU Bakersfield is 1-10 overall on the season coming off its first win of the season on Sunday with a 7-5 victory over Saint Francis at the California Baptist Classic.
The Roadrunners got the season started at the UCF Black & Gold Classic falling in six contests taking on Big 12 foe UCF, Big 10 opponent Maryland and ACC foe Duke.
CSUB went 16-34 overall in 2025 and finished ninth in the Big West with a 7-20 mark.Â
The Roadrunners were picked to finish 10th in the Big West preseason poll.
Freshman outfielder Kayla Whaley leads the Roadrunners hitting .333 and has drawn a team-leading seven walks & scored seven runs.
In the circle, freshmen Amber Estrada & Cedes Saldana have started nine of CSUB's 10 games while opponents are hitting .381 from the plate and averaging 7.1 runs per game.
ABOUT WEBER STATE WILDCATS
Weber State comes into the Lyman Classic with a 1-9 mark earning its first win of the season last week at the San Diego Tournament defeating San Diego, 9-5.
The Wildcats, who fell to the Trailblazers, 8-2 in last weekend's tournament, also dropped contests to UC San Diego, Boise State and San Diego.
WSU got hot at the end of last season winning four of five in the Big Sky Tournament and advanced to the Oregon Regional earning a win over Binghamton while falling to the Ducks twice.
Picked second in the Big Sky preseason poll, four Wildcats (Sadie Kirk, Taegan Smith, Abby Grundy & Cali McCraw) were named to the Big Sky Preseason Team.
Sophomore outfielder Jordan McMahon is leading the team with a .419 average and tops the team in hits (13), total bases (13) & on-base percentage (.471).
Freshman pitcher Kendall Freidinger leads the team with seven appearances and a team-best 2.78 ERA while also topping the team with 22.2 innings thrown & 13 strikeouts.

The Trailblazers opened the 2026 season on Feb. 6-8 in Southern California falling in all five contests.
Utah Tech dropped a pair of close contests on Friday to Oregon State (5-2) and Long Beach State (0-2) in Long Beach before dropping a high-scoring 11-6 decision at UC Riverside on Saturday.|
The weekend closed out on Sunday at Loyola Marymount falling to the Lions, 9-1 in five innings and Big West preseason favorite UC Santa Barbara, 10-4.

Pappas has started all 10 games leading the Trailblazers in at-bats (32), doubles (4), home runs (2), RBI (5), total bases (21) & slugging percentage (.656).
Sadie Phillips has also had a strong start hitting .435 going 10-for-23, has scored two runs & swiped three stolen bases.
