THE UTAH VALLEY WOLVERINES
Utah Valley is 18-6 on the season and is tied atop the WAC with California Baptist with an 8-3 mark.
The Wolverines are on a hot streak winning three straight coming off a dominant 81-60 win over UT Arlington last Saturday.
UVU also has wins over Abilene Christian (68-55) and at Tarleton State (83-55) since their last setback at CBU, 78-71 on Jan. 24.
A perfect 12-0 at home this season, the Wolverines are only 3-6 on the road.
Coming off a 25-9 overall record in 2024-25, the Wolverines won the WAC regular season mark with a 15-1 mark and advanced to the finals of the WAC Tournament falling to Grand Canyon & fell in the first round of the NIT to San Francisco.
Utah Valley leads the WAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.32), assists per game (19.3 - 7th nationally), blocks per game (5.6 - 11th nationally), field goal percentage (51.0 - 14th nationally), field goal percentage defense (40.8), scoring margin (14.1), scoring offense (81.7), scoring defense (67.6) & three point percentage (34.8).
The Wolverines are also second in steals per game (9.8) and are third in rebounds per game (37.1), three pointers per game (7.1) & turnovers forced per game (15.54).
Redshirt sophomore guard Jackson Holcombe ranks third in the WAC in points per game (15.6), rebounds per game (7.4), blocks per game (1.33) & field goal percentage (55.0).
Preseason All-WAC selection Trevan Leonhardt leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (2.20), assists per game (6.0 - 27th nationally), steals (55 - 16th nationally) and is third in minutes per game (32:55).
Redshirt junior Tyler Hendricks, a transfer from UCF, leads the WAC in three-pointers made (58) and three-pointers per game (2.42) and is second on the team averaging 12.2 points per game.Â
SERIES HISTORY VS. UTAH VALLEY
This will be the Trailblazers and Wolverines 13th meeting with UVU leading the all-time series, 9-3.
The Wolverines have won five straight over the Trailblazers with Utah Tech's last win over the Wolverines coming at home on Dec. 2, 2023 with a 65-53 victory.
The Wolverines defeated the Trailblazers, 92-76 in Orem on Jan. 10 and were led by 15 points by
Jusaun Holt with four other Trailblazers tallying double digits.
Utah Tech is 2-2 at home against the Wolverines with a 80-75 overtime win at Burns Arena on Feb. 19, 2022 and dropped a heartbreaker, 79-77 in overtime on Feb. 20, 2025.
LAST TIME OUT vs. UT ARLINGTON
The Trailblazers extended their winning streak to four games last Thursday night surviving a double overtime thriller defeating UT Arlington, 87-84 at Burns Arena.
Utah Tech was led by a career-high 22 points by
Chance Trujillo, who nailed the game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds of the contest.
Trujillo finished 9-of-13 shooting from the field, went 4-of-7 from three-point range and added five rebounds.
Holt tallied 20 points, notched seven rebounds and four assists while playing a team-high 44 minutes.
Three more Trailblazers notched double figures getting 18 points from
Ethan Potter to go along with 12 points & six rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench by
Dario Domingos.
Noah Bolanga nearly missed his first double-double of the season finishing with 10 points and corralled a team-leading eight rebounds.
Trailing 34-33 at halftime, the Mavericks continued to lead in the early going of the second half taking a 40-38 lead, but the Trailblazers responded ripping off a 10-0 run to give UT a 48-40 lead.
After the Mavs cut the Trailblazers lead down to three (53-50), a triple from the corner by
Britton Berrett pushed UT to a 56-50 lead.
With UTA continuing to lead 72-71, Potter went to the line for a pair of free throws in the final five seconds of regulation. Coming out of a Maverick timeout, Potter sank a free throw to send the game to overtime tied at 72.
A layup in the final seconds of the first overtime by Holt locked up the game at 78 and sent the game to a second extra session.
An early layup by UTA in the second overtime gave the Mavs a 80-78 lead, but the Trailblazers quickly answered back with six straight points for a 84-80 advantage.
Two straight layups by the Mavs tied the game at 84 and with the game on the verge on a third overtime, Trujillo had other plans sinking the game-winning three-pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining as one final attempt by UTA came up short to seal the thrilling victory.
WHERE THE TRAILBLAZERS RANK IN THE WAC/NCAA IN 2025-26
Utah Tech comes into Thursday's game leading the WAC in three point attempts per game (22.8), three pointers made per game (7.6) & turnovers per game (12.6).
The Trailblazers are second in the conference in scoring offense (77.0), assist/turnover ratio (1.15), assists per game (14.5), field goal percentage (47.0), three point percentage defense (28.9 - 10th nationally) & are third in three point percentage (33.5).
Individually, Potter leads the WAC in rebounds per game (7.7) & field goal percentage (58.8 - 36th nationally) & is second in points per game (16.2). Potter also tops the conference and is 33rd nationally with 163 field goals made & is first with 192 rebounds.
Trujillo leads the WAC in three point attempts (149) and is fourth in minutes per game (32:52).
Bolanga is second in the WAC in three point attempts (142) & three-pointers made (47), is fifth in minutes per game (32:50) and sixth in rebounds per game (6.0).
Holt checks in fifth in blocks (24) & seventh in assists per game (3.4) and
Tanner Davis is third with 46 steals.
TRUJILLO EARNS WAC PLAYER & NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Trujillo posted a career-high 22 points in a thrilling 87-84 double overtime win over UT Arlington and had a standout performance making a season-best nine field goals and went 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Nailing the game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds of the second overtime, Trujillo added five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 42 minutes of action.
HOT STREAK
The Trailblazers have won a program record four straight WAC contests for the first time in its six seasons surpassing its previous high winning streak of three that came on Jan. 20-29, 2022 with wins over Lamar, UTRGV and Chicago State.
NO TAKEOUT, WE'RE COOKING AT HOME
The Trailblazers head into their final four home games this season with an 8-2 record in Burns Arena, its most home wins in a season since 2022-23 (9) and its 10 home wins in 2021-22 are the most they have had in the Division I era.
WINS RACKING UP
The Trailblazers have now matched their most wins in a season in the Division I era joining the 14 wins they earned in 2022-23.
BACK-TO-BACK
For the second straight game, the Trailblazers won after trailing at halftime against the Mavericks.
The Trailblazers have shot 40 percent or better from the field & have hit at least six three pointers in all 14 wins.

Potter, Trujillo, Holt & Davis are all on track to finish in the top 10 in a single season in different categories.
Potter in points per game (16.2, T-6th), rebounds per game (7.7, 6th) & field goal made (163, 5th), Trujillo in free throw percentage (86.4, 7th), Holt in three point percentage (45.1, 6th) & Davis in steals (46, T-5th).
WAC TOURNAMENT SET FOR MARCH 11-14 IN LAS VEGAS
The 2026 WAC Tournament is set for March 11-14 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas as the 2025-26 campaign will mark an end of an era as Utah Tech will compete in the final conference tournament.
The Trailblazers joined the WAC in 2020-21 during the first year of the program's NCAA Division I transition.Â
GOING "BIG" IN 2026
On June 25, 2025, Utah Tech announced that it had accepted an invitation to join the Big Sky Conference beginning on July 1, 2026.
Starting in the 2026-27 season, 14 of the Trailblazers' 17 sports will compete under the Big Sky Conference banner.
