Judkins Set to Coach in His 1,000th Career Game on Wednesday Night at CBU

SCOUTING THE CALIFORNIA BAPTIST LANCERS
California Baptist is 13-6 on the season sitting in a tie with the Trailblazers for third in the WAC with a 3-3 mark.

The Lancers are on a three-game winning streak after opening WAC action with an 0-3 marking earning victories over Utah Tech (84-72), Southern Utah (58-55) and Abilene Christian (74-58).

CBU is 8-0 at home this season and went 10-3 in non-conference action earning a road win at Oregon State on Nov. 29 and opened December with three straight contests against Big 12 opponents in Colorado, BYU and Utah.

California Baptist leads the WAC in rebounds per game (40.4) & turnovers per game (13.8), is second in free throw percentage (73.0) and third in field goal percentage defense (42.7) & scoring defense (69.5).

Graduate guard Dominique Daniels Jr., the WAC Preseason Player of the Year, leads the conference in minutes per game (35:51), is second in points per game (20.3) and fifth in assists per game (3.5) & free throw percentage (83.7)

Junior forward Thomas Ndong is second in the WAC in rebounds (7.4) and offensive boards per game (2.67).

Senior guard Martel Williams is fourth in the league in minutes per game (32:40), fifth in field goal percentage (42.4) and sixth in points per game (14.5).

SERIES HISTORY VS. CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
This will be the Trailblazers and Lancers 27th meeting against California Baptist with Utah Tech leading the all-time series, 15-11.

CBU narrowly leads 8-7 in Riverside after defeating the Trailblazers, 84-72 at home on Jan. 8.

The Trailblazers lead the series, 7-3 at home and are 0-1 at a neutral site after meeting in the 2016 PacWest Tournament in Irvine, Calif.

The two teams will meet one final time in the regular season this season on Feb. 14 at Burns Arena.

Overall, the Trailblazers are 3-4 on the road against the Lancers in the Division I era earning wins in 2021, 2022 & 2023.

This will be the 11th meeting between the two as Division I foes with CBU holding a 6-4 lead.

WHERE THE TRAILBLAZERS RANK IN THE WAC/NCAA IN 2025-26
Utah Tech comes into Wednesday's game second in the WAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.11), three point attempts per game (23.4), three point percentage defense (29.0), assists per game (14.3), turnovers per game (13.1) & three pointers made per game (7.3).

The Trailblazers are third in the conference in field goal percentage (46.8) & fourth in scoring offense (76.6).

Individually, Potter leads the WAC in rebounds per game (7.6) & field goal percentage (59.5) & is third in points per game (16.4).

Trujillo leads the WAC in three point attempts (119), ranks second in the conference in free throw percentage (88.9 - 40th nationally) and third in minutes per game (32:43).

Bolanga is second in the WAC in three point attempts (117), is fifth in minutes per game (32:10) and seventh in rebounds per game (6.0).

Holt ranks fifth in blocks per game (1.16) and Tanner Davis is fifth with 33 steals.

JUDKINS SET FOR 1,000TH CAREER GAME COACHED ON WEDNESDAY
Head coach Jon Judkins will coach in his 1,000th career game on Wednesday night as he enters the contest with a 632-367 overall record in his 34th season as a college coach.

The winningest collegiate coach in the state of Utah, Judkins is 348-239 over 21 seasons and 587 games at Utah Tech along with posting a 284-128 mark in 412 games and 13 seasons at Snow College.

HOT FROM DOWNTOWN
In all 10 wins this season, the Trailblazers have found success from behind the arc connecting on six or more triples in all 10 victories.

UT hit a season-high 12 three-pointers at ACU on Jan. 1 and also connected on 10 vs. Justice (Dec. 13) & vs. Southern Utah (Dec. 29).

DOUBLE DIGIT WIN SEASONS
The Trailblazers earned their 10th win of the season on Saturday against Tarleton State as it was the fourth time in UT's six seasons in Division I they will have double digit wins joining 14 in 2022-23, 13 in 2021-22 and 11 in & 2023-24.

It is the earliest the Trailblazers have hit 10 wins in the calendar year after earning their 10th win in the 2022-23 season on Jan. 21.

BALANCED SCORING ATTACK
The Trailblazers have had a balanced scoring attack all season with seven contests seeing UT tally five or more double figure contests - South Dakota (5), Bethesda (6), Manhattan (5), Nobel (5), Justice (5), Southern Utah (5) & at Utah Valley (5).

Potter has registered double digits in 18 of the Trailblazers' 20 contests this season and has topped 20 or more points in seven games.

Bolanga sits second with 13 double figure contests followed by 11 from Holt, 10 by Davis and nine from Trujillo. 

IN ALL 10 WINS
The Trailblazers have found a pair of commonalities, leading at half & shooting 40 percent or better from the field, in all 10 of its wins this season.

In nine of Utah Tech's wins, the Trailblazers have shot a better field goal percentage than their opponents, taken more three pointers and dished out more assists than their opponents.

Head coach Jon Judkins is in his 21st season at Utah Tech sporting a 348-239 (.593) overall record and a 328-227 (.591) mark in NCAA play.

Only eight current Division I coaches have been at their schools longer - Greg Kampe (42nd season at Oakland), Tom Izzo (31-Michigan St.), Mark Few (27-Gonzaga), James Jones (27-Yale), Randy Bennett (27-Saint Mary's), Scott Drew (23-Baylor), Bill Self (23-Kansas) & Gary Manchel (23-Mercyhurst).
