(St. George, Utah - April 5, 2025) - The Trailblazers closed out their series against Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon falling to the Texans, 8-3 on Military Appreciation Day at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech (14-24, 5-10 WAC) posted six hits in the contest led by
Jorja Crider and
Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kekona with a team-leading two base knocks apiece.
Freshman
Kinley Pappas added a double, RBI and scored a run while
Carly Eldredge and
Gabi Giroux also drove in one run apiece.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton made her 18th start of the season tossing three innings limiting Tarleton State (23-15, 9-6 WAC) to five hits, five runs and struck out one.
Lexie Wilson tossed the next three innings before the seventh inning went to
Riley Price who struck out a pair of Texans.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first two innings, the Texans got the scoring ignited in the third inning with a sacrifice fly and a three-run home run by Austin Germain to left field that bounced off
Marisa Rubio's glove and went over the fence.
A leadoff home run in the fourth pushed Tarleton's lead to 5-0 as the Trailblazers broke up the Texans shutout bid with an RBI ground out by Giroux.
A pair of RBI singles by the Texans in the fifth and one more RBI single in the sixth extended the Tarleton lead to 8-1.
Two late runs by the Trailblazers cut the Texans' lead to down to five thanks to an RBI double to center by Pappas followed by an RBI single to center by Eldredge, but that was all the scoring Utah Tech could muster in their comeback bid.
