Trailblazers Fall to California Baptist on Senior Day

The Trailblazers close out their WAC slate next weekend at WAC leader Grand Canyon.

(St. George, Utah - April 19, 2025) - The Trailblazers fell to California Baptist, 14-3 in six innings on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Karl Brooks Field.

Utah Tech (15-30, 6-15 WAC) totaled seven hits in the contest led by a 3-for-3 performance from Baylee Howley, who tallied a single, double and triple for her seventh game this season with three or more base knocks.

Honoring the Trailblazers' three seniors, Carly Eldredge, Ellie Evans and Marisa Rubio, prior to the start of the contest, the trio combined for three hits and Eldredge and Evans each knocked one run apiece.

In the circle, Sauren Garton got the start tossing 3.2 innings striking out three before giving way to Riley Price for a pair of innings and Lexie Wilson came on for the final out.

How It Happened
Getting out to a quick start, the Trailblazers led 1-0 in the first thanks to an RBI single to right by Eldredge.

California Baptist (22-25, 10-8 WAC) answered back tying the game at one with a lead off home run in the second, but UT quickly responded with a pair of runs for a 3-1 lead.

A one-out double by Howley put one on base for Evans, who knocked her home with an RBI single to right and Evans came around to score after a Lancers fielding error.

CBU responded with 13 unanswered runs scoring three in the third, five in the fourth and five in the sixth to push ahead, 14-3.

Howley led off the bottom of the sixth with a triple to left, but could not get home to score as the final three Trailblazers were retired in order.
