Trailblazers Stumble in Series Finale against Wolverines

The Trailblazers head out on the road next week to face UNLV on Tuesday and Abilene Christian next weekend.

(St. George, Utah - March 22, 2025) - The Trailblazers wrapped up their series against Utah Valley on Saturday afternoon falling 14-0 in five innings on Stand Up To Cancer Day at Karl Brooks Field.

Utah Tech (12-19, 3-6 WAC) was held to a pair of hits with singles from Cassidy Hornung and Baylee Howley.

In the circle, Riley Price made her 13th start of the season tossing a pair of innings allowing six hits, five earned before giving way to Cemryn Pickett for a pair of outs.

Sauren Garton closed out the contest throwing the final 2.1 innings holding Utah Valley scoreless and struck out three.

How It Happened
Utah Valley (8-19, 2-6 WAC) got the scoring started in the first inning with four runs that included a three-run home run by Emma Haygood.

After a run in the second pushed their lead to 5-0, a nine-run third inning extended their lead to 14-0 as the Wolverines smacked their second three-run home run of the contest by Megan Gibbs.

A single by Hornung in the third broke up UVU's no-hit bid and Howley added a leadoff single in the fifth as the Trailblazers loaded the bases, but Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kekona went down on strikes to close out the game.
