Trailblazers Come Up Short in Series Finale vs. Seattle U

The Trailblazers conclude their seven-game homestand next weekend hosting Utah Valley.

(St. George, Utah - March 15, 2025) - The Trailblazers wrapped up their first home WAC series on Saturday afternoon dropping the series finale, 11-5 to Seattle U at Karl Brooks Field.

Utah Tech (10-18, 1-5 WAC) totaled seven hits in the contest collecting base knocks from seven different Trailblazers and Baylee Howley registered her team-leading seventh double of the season.

Five different Trailblazers scored one run apiece while Brooklyn Dowdle led the way with two RBI and Gabi Giroux and LB Kahahawai-Kekona each drove in one RBI apiece.

In the circle, four pitchers saw action with freshman Cemryn Pickett making her third start of the season tossing two innings before giving way to Sauren Garton for 3.1 innings as she took the loss allowing five hits and five runs.

Riley Price and Lexie Wilson combined to finish out the contest tossing the final 1.2 innings and combined for a pair of strikeouts.

How It Happened
Seattle U got the scoring started jumping out to a 4-0 lead with a run in the second, two more in the third and one in the fifth on an RBI single to right.

After being held to one hit in the opening four innings, the Trailblazers' bats woke up in the bottom of the fifth with a four-run frame to knot the contest at four apiece.

A two-run RBI single up the middle by Dowdle scored a pair and Howley came around to score after a throwing error by the Redhawk catcher. Giroux knotted the scored at four after a bases-loaded hit by pitch drove home Dowdle.

The Redhawks responded with a four-run frame of their own in the sixth with an RBI double and a three-run home run to jump ahead, 8-4.

Three more runs came around for Seattle U in the seventh and the Trailblazers wrapped up the scoring with a run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single back up the middle by Kahahawai-Kekona.
