Trailblazers Tripped Up at Creighton to Finish Non-Conference Slate

The Trailblazers open their sixth and final season of WAC play next Monday night hosting Southern Utah at 7 p.m. at Burns Arena.

(Omaha, Neb. - Dec. 22, 2025) - The Trailblazers fought tough on Monday night to wrap up non-conference action falling 92-69 at Creighton at the CHI Health Center Omaha.

Utah Tech (7-7) was led by a pair of Trailblazers in double figures with WAC Player of the Week Ethan Potter leading the charge with 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

Redshirt senior guard Jusaun Holt posted his second-highest scoring total of the season notching 16 points, including 12 in the first half, and hit a season-leading three three-pointers adding three steals and a pair of assists.

Noah Bolanga tallied nine points and dished out a team-high five assists and Chance Trujillo chipped in eight points off the bench.

The Trailblazers shot 50 percent (29-58) from the field, 33.3 percent (6-18) from three-point range and 62.5 percent (5-8) from the free throw line.

Creighton (8-5) saw four Bluejays in double figures led by 19 points from Austin Swartz along with 17 points, six rebounds & five assists from Josh Dix, 13 points from Issac Traudt and 10 points from Jasen Green.

How It Happened
Getting off to a slow start, Creighton jumped out to a 7-0 lead and took a 17-5 lead after the opening five minutes.

The Trailblazers responded with an 8-0 run to cut the Bluejays' lead down to four and were able to get within a pair (26-24) after a second chance layup by Dario Domingos. A layup by Trujillo kept the Trailblazers within a pair at 28-26, but a 15-5 run for Creighton pushed the home team ahead by 12 before a three-pointer by Holt in the final seconds of the half made it 43-34 in favor of Creighton at the break. A layup by Potter got the second half started for the Trailblazers and after a layup by Bolanga got within nine (51-42) five minutes into the half, the Bluejays answered back with a 7-0 run to push their lead to 16 going on to lead by double digits the remainder of the game.

Numbers to Know
  • It was the Trailblazers' first-ever meeting against a member of the Big East and second game in the state of Nebraska joining a contest at Chadron State on Jan. 11, 2020.
  • Potter led the Trailblazers in scoring along with rebounding for the ninth time this season.
  • Bolanga's five assists are his second-most of the season since dishing out six at Santa Clara on Dec. 3.
  • The Trailblazers led the Bluejays in second chance points (9-4), points in the paint (44-42) and blocks (3-1).
