For the second time this season, Utah Tech redshirt freshman running back
Asa Chatman was named United Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday for his efforts in the Trailblazers' thrilling 34-33 overtime home victory over North Alabama this past Saturday afternoon.
Chatman posted his first-collegiate 100-yard game, finishing with 101 yards on 18 carries and a career-high two touchdowns. Both of his touchdowns came late in the fourth quarter and in overtime.
Chatman, who finished with a career-best 118 all-purpose yards, gained 29 of those yards on a game-tying touchdown scamper with 4:06 to play in regulation. Then in overtime, the freshman tied the game with a 4-yard scoring run, and the Blazers clinched the win on place kicker
Ilya Uvaydov's PAT try.
Through nine games this season, Chatman leads the team in rush yards (452; 4.6 ypc), all-purpose yards (595) and rushing touchdowns (4), and is second on the club in receptions (33).
After spending the last four weeks at home, Utah Tech will head out on its penultimate road trip of the 2025 season this Saturday when the Trailblazers travel to the "Lone Star State" for a UAC road date at #20/18 Abilene Christian. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. (MT).
