(St. George, Utah - Nov. 25, 2025) - The Trailblazers stumbled in the final minutes on Tuesday night falling 68-63 to Portland State at Burns Arena.
Utah Tech (4-5), taking on a future Big Sky opponent for the second time in two seasons, were led by a pair of Trailblazers in double figures.
Ethan Potter led UT with 18 points of 9-of-13 shooting from the field along with 12 points and a team-leading seven rebounds & five assists from
Chance Trujillo.
Tanner Davis added eight points and five more Trailblazers added at least one field goal apiece.
As a team, the Trailblazers shot 43.9 percent (25-57) from the field, 23.8 percent (5-21) from three-point range and 80 percent (8-10) from the charity stripe.
Portland State (4-2) was led by Terri Miller Jr. with 19 points and Tre-Vaughn Minott tallied a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Jaylin Henderson added 10 points and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
How It Happened
A slow start to the game saw the Trailblazers fall behind 13-4 after the opening five-and-half minutes.
Utah Tech quickly responded with a 14-5 run to knot the game at 18 after scoring eight straight points, including knocking down a pair of triples from Trujillo and
Britton Berrett.
A three-pointer by
Jusaun Holt gave the Trailblazers their first lead since the opening minute at 21-20 and another triple from long range by Holt gave UT their largest lead of the first half going ahead 26-22 with 1:55 remaining.
Taking a 26-24 lead into halftime, the Vikings came out of the locker room going on a 16-8 run to jump ahead 40-34 five minutes into the second half.
The Trailblazers responded with a 14-2 run to take their largest lead of the night at six jumping ahead 48-42 after a jumper by Owona.
Continuing to lead over the next four-and-half minutes, the Vikings took back the lead at 54-53 with 7:25 to play.
The Trailblazers answered back with a 10-4 run capped by back-to-back layups by Davis and
Madiba Owona for a 63-58 lead with 2:20 to go.
Unfortunately, it was all Vikings from there scoring the final 10 points of the contest as a potential game-tying three-pointer by
Noah Bolanga with five seconds remaining came up short with two final free throws by PSU sealing the win for the Vikings.
