Trailblazers Return Home to Host Nobel on Friday Night

The Trailblazers are looking for their first 2-0 home start to a season since 2022-23.

SCOUTING NOBEL
Nobel is 1-5 on the season and are in the midst of playing five exhibitions in a six-day stretch starting Wednesday night at Long Beach State.

The Knights will also face Montana State in Long Beach before arriving in St. George and will wrap up the busy stretch with contests at Southern Utah on Saturday night and UC Santa Barbara on Monday night.

Nobel opened the season on Oct. 26 with a 95-62 win over Cal Miramar and have dropped contests to Benedictine Mesa, Hawai'i-Hilo, Chamindae, Hawai'i Pacific and are coming off a narrow 60-58 setback at home to Ottawa (AZ) last Saturday.

The Knights are averaging 70.7 points per game and allowing 82.7 points per contest.

Head coach Les Bean is in his second year at Nobel after posting a 2-22 overall record in 2024-25.

SERIES HISTORY VS. OPPONENTS
This will be the Trailblazers' first-ever regular season meeting against Nobel.

This will be the second of three meetings against a member of the Southwestern States Intercollegiate Conference of the NCCAA coming to Burns Arena joining Bethesda (Nov. 5) and Justice (Dec. 13).

TRAILBLAZERS TAKE ONE OF THREE CONTESTS IN HAWAI'I
The Trailblazers are coming off winning one of three contests last week at the OUTRIGGER Rainbow Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i.

Utah Tech defeated Mississippi Valley State, 81-75 on Friday night in double overtime while dropping close contests to Manhattan, 79-75 on Wednesday and 68-62 to Hawai'i on Saturday.

POTTER & TRUJILLO EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS
Senior center Ethan Potter and redshirt sophomore guard Chance Trujillo earned OUTRIGGER Rainbow Classic All-Tournament honors with Potter leading the Trailblazers with double-doubles against Manhattan (20 pts. & 11 reb.) & Mississippi Valley State (22 pts. & 13 reb.) and added a team-high 15 points against Hawai'i.

Trujillo averaged 12 points, two assists and a steal over the three games on the islands and scored 15 points against Manhattan while drilling four three-pointers.

TRAILBLAZRS AT ARIZONA STATE & NO. 13 ARIZONA
The Trailblazers opened their five-game road swing with a pair of games at No. 13 Arizona on Nov. 7 and Arizona State two days later.

The Trailblazers battled tough against the Wildcats falling 93-67 to No. 13 Arizona at the McKale Memorial Center.

UT was led in scoring by Potter who finished with 15 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds.

Freshman guard Tanner Davis tallied his second double figure contest of the season chipping in 11 points and Noah Bolanga rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points to go along with six rebounds and a pair of steals.

Taking on the Sun Devils two days later, the Trailblazers fell 81-66 to ASU with Trujillo leading the team with 15 points.

Bolanga added 13 points, Potter tallied 12 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds & Jusaun Holt rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points and dished out a team-leading four assists.

WHERE THE TRAILBLAZERS RANK IN THE WAC/NCAA IN 2025-26
Utah Tech comes into Friday night's contest leading the WAC in three point attempts (26.7), are second in three-pointers made per game (7.3) & turnovers per game (12.4) and are third in three point percentage defense (28.8).

Individually, Potter leads the WAC and ranks 10th nationally in rebounds with 62 boards and sits second in the conference and seventh nationally in points (119).

Trujillo leads the WAC in minutes per game (36:22) and three-pointers made (17).

Davis leads the WAC in steals with 12 and Bolanga tops the conference with 78 field goal attempts.

ELITE COMPANY
Head coach Jon Judkins is in his 21st season at Utah Tech sporting a 341-233(.595) overall record and a 321-221 (.592) mark in NCAA play.

Only eight current Division I coaches have been at their schools longer - Greg Kampe (42nd season at Oakland), Tom Izzo (31-Michigan St.), Mark Few (27-Gonzaga), James Jones (27-Yale), Randy Bennett (27-Saint Mary's), Scott Drew (23-Baylor), Bill Self (23-Kansas) & Gary Manchel (23-Mercyhurst).

The Trailblazers stay at home next week hosting Portland State (2-2) on Tuesday and UC Riverside (2-3) on Saturday.
