Isaacson Becomes Utah Tech's Career 3FGM Leader in Trailblazers' WAC Opening Loss at UT Arlington

Three Trailblazers scored in double figures, but it was not enough as Utah Tech opened up Western Athletic Conference play on the wrong end of an 81-60 road loss at UT Arlington on Thursday afternoon inside the College Park Center.

How it happened
The Trailblazers (4-10/0-1 WAC) got off to a great start, thanks to two Aaliyah Ibarra 3-pointers and a pair of Emily Isaacson jumpers, the last of which staked Utah Tech to a 12-4 lead and forced a Lady Mavs' timeout midway through the opening quarter.

That UT Arlington timeout managed to wipe out all of the Blazers' momentum, and lit the fuse on a 17-0 Lady Mav run, which turned an eight-point Utah Tech cushion into a 21-14 UTA advantage after one quarter complete.

The Lady Mavs (7-6/2-0 WAC) started the second frame like they ended the first, outscoring Utah Tech 17-6 to extend to a commanding 38-20 lead with under two minutes to play until halftime.

Utah Tech managed to get up off the deck with a 7-0 spurt to close the stanza, which started with an Isaacson steal and transition 3-pointer. Isaacson's made trifecta, the 208th of her career, moved her into first place on Utah Tech's career 3-pointers made list.

Chardonnay Hartley and Brie Crittendon both followed that up with back-to-back buckets in the final moments to pull the Blazers to within 11 at 38-27 at the halftime intermission.

Unfortunately Utah Tech did not have an answer UTA post player Koi Love, who scored 13 of her game-high 24 points in the second half, including 11 third-quarter points, as the Lady Mavs pulled away and sent the Blazers to their sixth-straight loss.

Numbers to know
Hartley paced the Trailblazers with 17 points, including 6-of-8 at the foul line, to go with a game-high seven assists and one steal.

Isaacson finished with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting along with seven rebounds and a career-high tying five dimes. Isaacson passed former Trailblazer guard Kaylah Miller (2011-15), who hit 207 3-pointers during her four-year career.

Isaacson also reached another career milestone on Thursday as she became just the fifth player in program history to record at least 500 rebounds (504).

Ibarra knocked down three 3-pointers (3-of-6 3FG) on the day on her way to 12 points, while Crittendon just missed her first collegiate double-double as she wound up with eight points and a co-team high nine boards.

Freshman Paige Cofer, who made her Utah Tech debut and was penciled into the starting line-up on Thursday, matched Crittendon with nine rebounds and managed to pour in seven points.

Utah Tech shot 33.9 percent (21-of-62) from the floor, which included a 6-of-20 (.300) clip from the perimeter. The Trailblazers also went 12-of-17 (.706) at the foul line and recorded 17 assists on their 21 made field goals.

Love went 10-of-15 from the floor and wound up with 10 rebounds and a team-high six assists. Meanwhile her front court mate Avery Brittingham also posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 caroms.

UT Arlington, which outscored Utah Tech 48-28 in the paint, connected on 31-of-74 (.419) of its field goal attempts, and shot a blistering 88.2 percent (15-of-17) at the charity stripe. The Lady Mavs also outrebounded Utah Tech 48-37, which included a 15-10 edge on the offensive glass.
