Game One Recap
The Trailblazers got the scoring started early in game one with an RBI double by Lockard to right in the first for a quick 1-0 lead.
Three more runs came across for Utah Tech in the fourth to extend the Blazers lead to 4-0. A leadoff single by Lockard and a walk by
Rachel Campbell put a pair of runners on base for McKown, who drove in Lockard with an RBI single to left center.
An RBI single to center field by Leone brought in Campbell and the scoring was rounded out with an RBI single to right field by Gleave.
With the Thunderbords notching their lone two hits of the game in the fifth, the Blazers added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single by McKown that scored pinch-runner
Brooke Pisciotta for a 5-0 lead.
Johnston sent down the next six Thunderbirds to complete the shutout victory.
Game Two Recap
The Thunderbirds wasted little time in the second game exploding for six runs in the second inning, all unearned, as Southern Utah took advantage of a Utah Tech fielding error to build a 6-0 lead.
Four more runs came in for SUU in the third to push the visitors lead to 10-0.
The Trailblazers threatened to break up the shutout bid loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the third after three singles, but a fielder's choice saw a force out at home followed by a line out by Lockard ended the threat for UT.
A leadoff single by Gardner in the fifth could not get much going as the Thunderbirds claimed the run-rule win in five innings.
