Utah Tech head women's basketball coach JD Gustin announced on Thursday the signing of junior college transfer Aaliyah Ibarra to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Trailblazer program ahead of the 2024-25 season.

"We've been following Aaliyah since early in her high school days and it's been fun to watch her development into the player she is today," said Coach Gustin. "She has deep range and a confidence to keep shooting it. Her assist-to-turnover ratio this past season also caught our eye. She earned this scholarship and are proud of her for it."

The 5-8 sharpshooting guard enjoyed a banner sophomore season at College of Southern Nevada, where she was the second-leading scorer in the Scenic West Athletic Conference at 16.9 ppg. Ibarra also led the SWAC in made 3-pointers (90-of-243; .370/3.2 3FGM/g) and finished eighth in the conference in free throw shooting (.725).

Ibarra, who also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season, scored in double figures in 26 of 30 games played in 2023-24, highlighted by a career-high 38 points on 14-of-22 shooting with nine 3-pointers in the Coyotes' road win at Yavapai College (1/8/24).

In her first season at CSN in 2022-23, Ibarra led the Coyotes in scoring (13.6 ppg), made 3-pointers (68-of-181; .375) and steals (36; 1.3 spg).

Ibarra prepped at Las Vegas powerhouse Centennial High School, where she was part of three-straight Nevada state championship winning teams.

Ibarra is Utah Tech's fourth signee ahead next season, joining fellow spring signee Andjela Colic (Belgrade, Serbia), along with fall prep signees in Ellie Taylor from Copper Hills (UT) High School, and Paige Cofer from Idaho's Eagle HS.
