BLAZERS TRIPPED UP IN SERIES AGAINST GCU
The Trailblazers dropped all three games over the weekend against Grand Canyon.
Utah Tech was only able to garner eight runs in the series scoring five runs in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
That contest included a pair of home runs, one by Rachel Campbell, along with an inside-the-park scamper around the bases by Sadie Gardner, the first of her career.
ABOUT THE BYU COUGARS
The Cougars are 20-13 overall on the season coming off winning a series at home over Houston last weekend taking the series opener, 11-3 in five innings and a slugfest, 17-15 in the series finale.
BYU ranks 12th nationally and third in the Big 12 in batting average hitting .334 as a team. The Cougars average 7.0 runs per game (12th nationally)Â and 8.8 hits per game with five starters hitting over .300.Â
Senior outfielder Violet Zavodnik leads the team with a .440 average while Ailana Agbayani ranks second in the Big 12 and eighth nationally in runs per game (1.27)
On the pitching side, BYU is eighth in the Big 12 in ERA (4.80) while opponents are hitting .292 and have a 1.37 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Senior left-hander Chloe Temples leads the team in innings pitched (65.1), ERA (4.29) and strikeouts (71).
SERIES HISTORY VS. BYU
The Trailblazers trail the all-time series against BYU, 0-7 having fallen 9-1 in five innings last week at home.
UT is 0-3 on the road against the Cougars in Provo falling 8-6 in 2022 along with the final two games of the 2021 season.
TAKING A STROLL
The Trailblazers rank fourth in the WAC in walks drawing 82 free passes this season.
Freshman Gabi Giroux leads the conference with 0.62 walks per game while her 16 walks are tied for fourth in the conference.

The Trailblazers head to the Pacific Northwest this weekend taking on Seattle U (14-19, 6-3 WAC) on Friday and Saturday.
