(St. George, Utah - March 9, 2024) - The Trailblazers continued play at the UCSB Tournament II on Saturday falling to Lehigh, 8-0 in five innings and UC Santa Barbara, 3-0 at Campus Diamond.
Utah Tech (6-15) was held to one hit in each contest getting a base knock from
Laura Lockard in game one against the Mountain Hawks and
LB Kahahawai-Kekona added a single in game two against the Gauchos.
On the pitching side,
Sauren Garton got the start in game one with
Danyelle Leone coming on in relief while in game two
Attlyn Johnston threw a complete game in game two tossing six innings allowing eight hits, three runs and struck out six.
Game One Recap vs. Lehigh
The opening game saw the Mountain Hawks jump out to a early 3-0 lead in the first inning with a pair of RBI base knocks.
A solo home run by Lehigh in the third inning pushed the Mountain Hawks in front 4-0 and four more runs came in to score in the fifth to end the contest after five frames.
Game Two Recap vs. UC Santa Barbara
Looking to bounce back in game two, the Blazers threatened for runs in the third inning getting a two-out single by Kahahawai-Kekona.
After a stolen base by Kahahawai-Kekona, her team-leading sixth of the season, followed by back-to-back walks to
Gabi Giroux and Lockard loaded the bases,
Oaklee Trapp sprayed a popup down the third base line to end the threat.
The Gauchos broke the scoreless game open in the third with an RBI double and tacked on two more runs in the fifth with a two-run home run.
