LOOK AT THE UCSB TOURNAMENT II
The Trailblazers head back out on the road for the first time in nearly three weeks heading to California for the UC Santa Barbara Tournament II.
The Blazers will take on Lehigh three times while facing host UCSB twice.
UT WINS IN WALK-OFF OVER BADGERS AT THE TRAILBLAZER TOURNAMENT
Utah Tech went 1-3 at the Trailblazer Tournament hosted at Karl Brooks Field defeating Wisconsin on a walk-off in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday.
Topping the Badgers, 6-5, the Trailblazers got the game-winning hit from Laura Lockard to drive home Sadie Gardner for the win.
Battling back from a 4-1 deficit, UT used a solo home run by Rachel Campbell along with RBI base hits from Lockard and Gabi Girox to get within 5-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
An RBI single by Oaklee Trapp tied the game at five and with pinch runner Sadie Gardner on third base, Lockard's hit drove in her to win the game.
OFFENSIVE LEADERS
Junior outfielder Marissa Rubio continues to lead the Trailblazers with a .319 average from the plate collecting 15 hits in 47 at-bats.
Junior Carly Eldredge leads the team in hits (18), home runs (3), RBI (16) and slugging percentage (.561) and is second in batting average hitting .316.
PITCHING LEADERS
Three Trailblazer pitchers each have two wins apiece in Sauren Garton, Attlyn Johnston and Tyler Denhart.
Johnston leads the team with 21 strikeouts while Denhart is the leader in innings pitched (42.1) and Garton tops the team in ERA (3.97) and batting average against (.287).
SEVEN NEW TRAILBLAZERS
Seven new Trailblazers have made their debuts so far this season with freshman Drew McKown making nine starts with seven starts at shortstop and two starts at second base.
Additionally, newcomers Gabi Giroux, Baylee Howley & Maka Sonognini have all made starts while Jayda Gleave, Abby Mitchell and Brooke Pisciotta have also all seen action this season.
ABOUT UC SANTA BARBARA
The Gauchos have posted a 4-13 overall record in 2024 with wins over Bradley, a pair against UNLV and Santa Clara and are coming off a 1-3 record last weekend at the Capitol Classic in California.
UCSB went 26-22 overall in 2023 with a 13-14 mark in the Big West to finish in a tie for fifth in the conference with Hawai'i.
The Gauchos rank third in the Big West in stolen bases (24) while sitting fourth in batting average (2.54), scoring (3.88) and on-base percentage (.333).
On the pitching side, UCSB has a 4.42 ERA while holding opponents to a .288 average from the plate. Opponents are averaging 5.3 runs per game while the staff has combined for 76 strikeouts.
Senior infielder Madelyn McNally leads the Big West in runs per game (1.12), is second in on-base percentage (.537), while ranking third in batting average (.466) and hits (27).
ABOUT LEHIGH
The Mountain Hawks are 3-9 on the season in 2024 with a pair of victories against Valparasio and are coming off a 4-2 win over Iowa State in its last outing at the Rawlings Classic in Charlottesville, Va.
Lehigh went 40-14 in 2023 with a 16-2 mark in the Patriot League to finish second in the conference.
The Mountain Hawks rank second in batting average (.280), on-base percentage (.358) & scoring (3.75), while sitting third in slugging percentage (.328).
On the pitching side, Lehigh has a 6.37 team ERA while senior pitcher Katelyn Young has a team-leading two wins adding 23 strikeouts in 32.1 innings & a 4.76 ERA.

The Trailblazers are back home next weekend to open WAC play hosting Abilene Christian on March 15-16.
