Utah Tech freshman guard Calyn Dallas was named Western Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday for her efforts in the Trailblazers' home sweep last weekend.  
 
Dallas (6-1; Lubbock, Texas/Cooper HS) averaged 15.0 points on 58.8 percent shooting (10-of-17), including a hot 8-of-12 (.667) from 3-point country, in the Trailblazers' two wins. She also averaged 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.5 steals in her two starts. 
 
The freshman tallied 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting with three 3-pointers, and collected four boards, one assist and one steal in Thursday's win over UTRGV.
 
Dallas then notched her second-career double-double with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday's triumph over Stephen F. Austin. Dallas enjoyed on of her finest shooting performances of the season, going 6-of-8 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from the perimeter, highlighted by a dagger 3-pointer with two minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Her five 3-pointers tied a career high, while nine of her 10 rebounds came on the defensive end. 
 
Utah Tech (18-13/12-8 WAC) wrapped up the 2023-24 regular season with a fourth place finish in the WAC standings. The Trailblazers were awarded the fourth seed and a first round bye into the quarterfinal round of the 2024 WAC Tournament, which gets underway this Wednesday at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
 
The Trailblazers await the winner of the first round match-up between No. 5 seed UT Arlington (15-15/11-9 WAC) and No. 8 seed Southern Utah (8-21/6-14 WAC), which will be played on Wednesday at 12 noon (PT).
