Utah Tech swimming posted two victories in the team's final dual meet of the 2024 calendar year against New Mexico State on Thursday at the HPC Pool.

Cera Mallory won for the second time in as many meets as she collected the Trailblazers' first win of the day, which came in the 100-yard breaststroke in her season-best time of 1:06.64. Mallory also posted a runner-up finish in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:26.92, which was the sixth-fastest time in that event in program history.

Alyssa Gordon later made it a clean sweep in the breaststroke races for the Blazers as she touched the wall first with a time of 2:24.02.

Utah Tech also collected seven total runner-up finishes on the day, beginning the meet with a second place showing in the 200 medley relay, where the team of Mary Sims Cross, Grace Benson, Gabby Henry and Mandy Farnum posted a time of 1:48.31.

Meanwhile Benson placed second in the 100 backstroke with a 58.80, as did Farnum in the 50 free at 24.18. Dani Cannon followed suit with her season-best time in the 100 free at 53.83, and Allie Hayes wrapped up the individual events with a runner-up finish in the 200 IM with a 2:11.30.

Utah Tech then closed out the meet with a second place showing in 400 free relay, with Mallory, Cannon, Benson and Farnum combining to record a 3:34.15.

"Our ladies trained really, really hard this week. They put in a lot of good work and we came into this meet with the objective of just racing, and they did that," Utah Tech Head Coach Shawn King said. "We raced very competitively with a great New Mexico State team, they are ranked really high in our division.

"To put up the races we did tonight, as tired as we are, it was fantastic," King added. "I loved our effort, I loved our energy, and I'm looking forward to what we have in January and in February as we get ready for the WAC championships."

Utah Tech begins the 2025 calendar year with a trip to the Palouse for pair of January dual meets. The Trailblazers open the trip with a two-team dual at Washington State on Friday, Jan. 17, before heading across the border to Moscow for a two-team dual at Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 18.
